Redbox Raising DVD Rental Rates by 25 Percent

Still a good deal at $1.50/$2.00, but I rent less titles as the price increases. I believe they would do better if they dropped the prices back down to $1.00
At $1.00 I will rent almost anything (except Disney/kids movies). B-movies, lame horror movies, independent studios with no name actors, etc.
At $1.50, I get more selective. Only rent big name movies. So I would miss stuff like "Under The Skin" or "Snowpiercer".
At $2.99 to $5.99 for online rentals, I rent NOTHING. I watch whatever is on TV.

Their days are numbered, I give them two years at most...may as well soak us all now before they go out of business.

It won't bother me. We just got another movie channel over the air, and there are suppose to be more on the way. I havn't been checking new Redbox rentals since they added the new movie channel.

I'm not sure why people dump on Redbox. You can rent a new release Blu-ray for $2.00 or choose between streaming for $5-$7 or buying the Blu-ray for $19.99.
Seems like a pretty fair deal to me. They're easy to return, you can reserve titles and they always seem to have the hit titles in stock.
No, you won't find the Seventh Samurai Criterion Collection but as a place to find the latest hits, it works really well.
After years and years of $5-$6 Blockbuster rentals, what's to complain about?

They would do better to do target market price increases. Higher prices in higher income areas and what not. They are going to kill their ghetto sales.
