De Niro is the first that came to mind. The guy is always so uncomfortable and cannot talk easily. I have seen him get up and leave a couple of times.
I remember Meg Ryan also being incredibly rude when being interviewed by Michael Parkinson. He is a laid back interviewer and she was just acting very badly.

I've never liked watching the "character comedian" actors (Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler...) in interviews. It seems like they always have to be "on", are always manically cracking unfunny jokes, and the interviewer always feels the need to awkwardly fake laugh at the whole thing. It makes me uncomfortable and sorry for all involved.
Rooney Mara has a certain irritated-with-the-spotlight Kristen Stewartness about her that I don't enjoy in interviews.

Anybody watch Mark at the movies on Reelz channel? Since it's mostly a press-junket show, he flat out says which actors are "Tough nuts to crack". Jeremy Renner was said to be the latest one.

Harrison Ford also came to mind. I know he's not the most comfortable being on talk shows and it can be apparent at times. Its weird someone who's been around the business as long as he has still gets uncomfortable/nervous in that situation, but I guess everybody is different.

I agree about Rooney, but I think she's still coming off GWTDT and has taken some of Liz's-isms.
Don't think she's done anything worthwhile since.

When Robert Downey Jr. was interviewed by Howard Stern years ago, he would get annoyed when the conversation veered away from being about him. Stern would gently put him in his place. Doesn't make him a bad interview subject but it's all I remember from the interview.

But that's because they're so awkward they reach a funny zone, mostly thanks to Conan. Ford is clearly uncomfortable in every interview, and he obviously has to get stoned before he goes and does one.
As for Robin Williams feeling like he always has to be on, probably has something to do with his crippling depression.

Everyone who offers a "normal" interview. The worst interviews are fluffy interviews. The strangest interviews are engaging.

It's sort of interesting to see people like that when they're obviously being polite vs. when they're very blunt. I've seen interviews with (although obviously not actors) people like Harold Bloom or Harlan Ellison who can be blunt and opinionated, or be on mainstream TV and obviously be curbing what they're saying and be polite. I think most people who're being interviewed publicly are obviously going to go into interviews, especially with mainstream talk shows, being fairly conservative about what they're going to say and do.
