The best film Clark Gable ever made and the best film Marilyn Monroe ever made is not only the same film, but the last film either of them ever appeared in.

William Freidkin's The Exorcist and Sorcerer and John Boorman's Deliverance are the best DIRECTED films of the 70"s.

Francis Ford Coppola was the best director of the '70s, but hasn't made a noteworthy film since the '70s.

Edward Norton...Primal Fear, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Fight Club, The 25th Hour, American History X, The Painted Veil, The Illusionist, Leaves of Grass, Stone, Down in the Valley etc...is the best actor of his generation.

the imdb 250 truly doesnt matter and even movies with a 1.0 rating can be considered better than that if one likes them more , greatness is relativity.

If the makers of the 1940s Superman cartoons had made a noir-like Batman animated feature in 1946-47, the entire direction of American animation would have shifted and we would have had anime-like animated features long before the Japanese.
To see what I mean, take a look at the very last of the Superman cartoons, "Secret Agent" (1945), and imagine a Batman feature done in this style:

As much as I/we enjoy them, the current crop of comic book movies is slowly draining Hollywood of whatever fun and originality it had left.
