John Wick (10/24/14; d: Stahelski & Leitch) S: Keanu, Dafoe, Leguizamo

This looks like it could be a lot of fun. Almost feels like a Luc Besson movie. And Reeves actually seems to give a decent performance...

Keanu Reeves stars as John Wick, an ex-assassin who hunts down the thief that stole his car and killed his dog. Willem Dafoe plays an old friend who is hired by the thief's crime boss father to kill Wick.

John Wick is a fresh and stylized take on the “assassin genre”. Joining Reeves and Dafoe in the cast are Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, and John Leguizamo.

I remember reading about this flick and all but forgot about it. Nice to finally see a trailer for it.

Looks badass. I'm in.

Not a big fan of the title, but it does look like it'll be a fun ride. I like Keanu but most of his recent output hasn't enticed me much.

When are you finally going to start watching Game of Thrones?

Should have known it was a GoT reference.

The answer to your question is that I already tried (back when season 1 aired), hated the show, and never looked back.

This looks pretty badass. We've seen the story but these things tend to be pretty fun at times. Reeves is rocking it so I'm in.

Not sure if it's the same movie, but I seem to recall there was someone else in that role before Reeves took over. Want to say it was Daniel Craig but not sure.

Was all for it until they killed a dog. I hate seeing dogs get killed on screen because I'm a dog lover.

Perhaps it's a minor plot point...?

I'd obviously object if they actually harmed an animal (and I'm not an animal lover), but this is fiction, and I'm sure that they were special effects, and the dog is fine in its trailer enjoying Milkbones

Stahelski is veteran action movie choreographer and stunt coordinator from 87-11 stunts, curious how he'll handle directing. Hopefully at the very least, the action will be good, and the filmmaking won't be as inept as the old Alpha Stunts productions. Judging by the cast, it's at least bigger budgeted !

When I read the books, which as far as I can tell, are longer than War and Peace.

That looks awful. They should have cast a mannequin in the lead instead of Reeves.

Then you should appreciate Keanu's actions afterwards!

I think it looks great, I'm in for watching Keanu kick ass.

"The animal violence scenes were specially shot in Bolivia which does not have anti-cruelty laws. This allows one crucial scene (which I won't spoil in this review) to be particularly realistic and emotional."

I doubt that they really took it to a dog, no matter where they filmed it. If for n o other reason, Reeves probably wouldn't approve. Movie looks good tho.

I actually think the premise of a man out to avenge his fallen dog is one with great promise.

So when will we get a crossover/mash-up flick starring Liam Neeson, Denzel Washington, Kevin Costner, Jim Caviezel, and Keanu Reeves?
