The Skeleton Twins (2014, D: Craig Johnson ) S: Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader

After ten years of estrangement, twins Maggie and Milo coincidentally cheat death on the same day, prompting them to reunite and confront how their lives went so wrong. As the twins' reunion reinvigorates them both, they realize that the key to fixing their lives just may lie in fixing their relationship with each other.

Just saw the trailer today. Looks interesting. I am attracted to see Hader do something different but at the same time I can see this falling into BS cliche drama humor too.

If this bombs, expect a "Gilly / Stefan" road trip movie to recoup costs.

Looks like this is getting more exposure this weekend.

I thought this was pretty funny:

I thought this flick was bloody brilliant with its high wire act of balancing pitch black humor with heartfelt drama. I was able to catch a screening of this with the director and co-writer in attendance. He autographed my ticket stub!

I'm not sure if this is a great movie for depressed people or a terrible one. Certain parts are kinda soul crushing.

Really well done overall, really solid acting all around too, and a pretty great cast considering the budget ( < $1m )

I enjoyed it quite a bit and laughed a bunch. It was a unique film. Wiig & Hader are good in what could be difficult roles to pull off.

I enjoyed the film. I thought it was well done.

However, the Starship lip-sync scene went on far too long. That sort of scene is kind of cliche, but it makes it worse when it lasts the entire song.

Watched this last night. Really liked it. Did not expect it to be so dark, given the cast. That said, I love watching comedic actors stretch their legs, so I it was enjoyable. These siblings have problems. Haha. I really liked the Starship scene, it was cute and a good feel good moment just before they drop you in the grease again.

Very solid, enjoyable film. Great performances by Wiig and Hader. And Luke Wilson really anchors this as well.

Re: The Skeleton Twins (2014, D: Craig Johnson ) S: Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader

Really dug this one. Wiig has a way of playing these damaged, vulnerable personalities with seemingly little effort. I'd rather see her in a hundred more dramas than another comedy, to be honest. Hader was equally impressive. I enjoyed that the film presented people in troubling situations, but didn't feel the need to put them in a much better position once all was said and done. It felt authentic.

I'd definitely put this on my top 15, maybe even 10, of 2014.

Re: The Skeleton Twins (2014, D: Craig Johnson ) S: Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader

I watched this last night. I liked it, but that ending was
Spoiler:
a big letdown. I mean, the movie just sort of ended. No conclusion to the story, a character reaching the end of a journey or changing in any meaningful way. The movie was just over after 90 minutes.

That said, great performances by Hader and Wiig. They are talented at both comedy and drama.

Spoiler:
They both attained a level of normalcy and seemed to feel they had a real place in the world. I'd say that was ending enough for them, considering how fucked up both were.
