4/10/14 ***X-Files Complete Series + Movies***, $89 Amazon BONUS DOTD

Just a heads up on an upcoming DOTD at Amazon.com

Currently going for $222 (shipped and sold by Amazon). It is slated to be 73% OFF for the Complete Series + the movies.

List price is $330.

73% OFF would place it around $89.

Add sales tax where applicable.

Update: Price is now LIVE. $88.99

Wonder why this and 2 movies is 54 discs when and the Collector's edition with just 1 movie is 61. It didn't have 7 extra bonus discs.

Edit: The slim packaging omits the bonus disc and most of the special features(except season 6-8) that came with first fold out dvd releases.

If the Bonus Discs mean that much to you, you can still buy them (Like New for most) on Ebay...

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...ons&_sacat=617

I lucked into the digipaks, 4 of them are the Collector's Editions, the others are minus the Bonus Discs (but still the digipaks). All in all I'm happy with what I have, I'd rather have these than the newer keep cases with 5-6 discs crammed in there.

Still, not a bad price for someone who's never experienced The X-Files.

Amazon Prime and Netflix have the whole series, if you don't care about bonuses, they're "free"

For those concerned about extras, it should also be noted that the version of the second movie, I Want to Believe, is the single disc edition and not the 2-disc special edition.

Unless you never plan to go Blu, I'd save my money. This is on sale because Blu-rays are almost certainly coming in the fall.

It IS being worked on, we just don't know the release schedule yet or if they're going to do one season at a time or a complete set.

There's a certain irony in that the early and best seasons are low-quality affairs that probably won't benefit much, if any, from HD, while the later and lesser seasons will look the best. I'm guessing that most of the earlier episodes were shot on film and edited on videotape with all of the interlacing going on.

I do wonder if they'll go back to the original film elements and do a full restoration like they did with ST:TNG, and if they'll replace the CGI with full 1080p upgrades. That might interest me enough to purchase at the least the first six or seven seasons...

I do remember that the season six story, "Triangle" looked like crap on the DVDs... the image on the 2.35:1 episode was so poor that it could have transferred from an extended play VHS tape.

+1
If you've waited this long, another six months or so before a Blu-ray announcement is not going to kill anyone.

plus FoxConnect has had these the last 2 BFs for 5.99 a season. I'm sure they will repeat again this year b/c of the BD upgrade.

Thanks OP, but on the deal.

Thanks OP, picked this up. Already had the movies but hadn't bit the bullet on the seasons. Are season 1-4 only available in full screen? Thanks for any info.
