Superman IV Deluxe Collectors Edition?
Why hasn't this fine film received the lavish collector's edition it richly deserves?
Say what you will about the movie, you have to admit the special effects are mind-blowing. And Christopher Reeve/Margot Kidder never had better chemistry together than in this film, when their relationship is finally believable.
Best villain ever = Nuclear Man. Just admit it.
Yes, I know there's a small minority of bile-filled, depressed haters who always dog on this classic. But why should the rest of the world be denied a proper edition, just because a few people can't appreciate what is quite provably the 2nd best Superman (after the original) movie?

I'm firm believer that the commentary track on the current DVD by screenwriter Mark Rosenthal is one of the best and underated tracks ever produced. He goes into lavish details in why the movie had such great intentions but the execution was all wrong. You don't need anymore special features than that IMO.

Mind blowing special effects?? This was produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus with a whopping $17m budget. It has been reported that Reeve regretted making this movie.
Rosenthal's track is the best and only special feature this movie needs.

I think the current edition of Superman IV is quite good for the worst movie in the series: commentary, deleted scenes, TV special, and trailer.

I guess there WAS a lawsuit over the allegations, but I don't think anything came from it. However, I heard that Reeve had stolen the story while they were still shooting the movie (from a Hollywood guy I'd met at a Star Trek convention), so - for me - that's pretty good evidence that the lawsuit wasn't just two guys looking to cash in.
I spent years hoping to see the deleted footage for this movie, thinking it would make for a better film...then I saw it and realized why so much of the film got edited before release. It's just one big huge mess.

I am so in for this release.... I'd even take a VHS or Beta for the superior quality of this performance. I say let's get the Kickstarter campaign started now !

There was also a report that Reeve's story contribution to the movie was actually stole from a couple of college kids who pitched a story idea that came to his attention. But that rumor quickly vanished after Reeve's accident, as it became rather bad form to accuse him of any such shenanigans.

It was cheesy but still way better than Superman III the worst and most boring movie in the Superman series
