2 New Smashing Pumpkins albums coming in 2015

http://www.smashingpumpkinsnexus.com/

March 25, 2014

Pleased to announce that I’ve just inked a new record deal with BMG that will see the release of two Smashing Pumpkins albums in 2015; titled successively: ‘Monuments To An Elegy’ and ‘Day For Night.’ For those interested in sound, think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars;’ but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic. Recording sessions begin today, as plenty of songs have been written and ready to go. Manning the boards will be producer Howard Willing, with whom I first had the pleasure of working with during the ‘Adore’ sessions. We expect a single out by year’s end.

Additionally, this stands as the initial post on a new nexus: The Panopticon, which through its simplicity should better address the speed of modern life. A continuing feature, items regarding each day’s recording will be shared that same evening, with song titles, lyrics, poetic impressions, pictures, sound clips, studio gear and the like offered for a circuitous, bird’s eye view of the process as it unfolds.

Canada did it first:

I actually really enjoyed the last SP album, so I'm interested in these.

Additionally, this stands as the initial post on a new nexus: The Panopticon, which through...
Dude's obsession with the band ISIS confirmed. A few songs on the last album were clear references to ISIS albums/songs.

Looks like he got a normal person to ghost-write that first paragraph.

He lives in my town and owns a tea house at the end of my street. He plays there acoustically sometimes. It's funny when he does because there are lines down the street to see him, so they end up rotating people in and out.
I'm not a Smashing Pumpkins fan but I've met him a few times in town and he's actually a really nice, down to earth guy.

Is this before or after he completes the 44-song album he was supposedly working on a few years back?

Really? I'm a huge SP fan and every time I've run into him he's been a complete jerk. And this goes back to 1994 when he was famous.

This has been my experience as well. The first time it happened (yes, the FIRST), was devastating as it was like getting hit in the face by your idol.

What a pretentious fuck.

Wonder if he needs an opener for his next tour?

Re: 2 New Smashing Pumpkins albums coming in 2015

Haven't really liked his new stuff. The only thing that keeps me tuned in is the Reissues with the bonus material from previous work.

Adore is on track:

http://www.smashingpumpkinsnexus.com...2-D31FD627C6F5

News out of the SP camp is that tracklisting for the upcoming ‘ADORE’ box set is now complete. The 6-disc set will feature the original album in stereo (as remastered by Bob Ludwig), the album as it was released in mono (here for the first time on CD), plus an additional 3 discs of unreleased material and a live DVD, taken from the band’s charity tour of 1998.

A summer release is expected

Awesome. I have loved this reissue series (except for Mellon Collie, which didn't offer so much bang for the buck) and this one should be one of the most interesting ones.

Yeah, I felt a little gipped with the Mellon Collie, I'm going to jump on it when the price comes down.

Me too. I've passed so far on used copies at around $60, but once I can get a new one for around $50, I'm on it.

Can't wait for Adore. Didn't realize there was a mono mix.

Ahh Adore. Now we reach full "Uncle Fester" era.

I like 3-4 songs off this album, not really enough to buy the 6-disc blowout.

Hopefully "Machina" will have some 2-disc edition, I'm curious to hear both albums mixed together.

I'm psyched for the Adore reissue. Apparently the Adore-era versions, and this has been rumored for the past 15 years, of Cash Car Star and Let Me Give The World To You were instant singles that just didn't fit the album (even the record company thought so). I'm really excited to hear them.

Love LMGTWTY. It should have been huge.

My favorite song from this era is Dross.

They are completely different versions. Like, night and day different. In the case of LMGTWTY the record company even brought in Rick Rubin to prep it as a single.

I loved SP back in day but really this is Billy and maybe the bassist, right? It's kinda like Guns & Roses with Buckethead and Axl and nobody else... not REALLY SP / G&R but in name only. Nothing beats their 90's albums.

Your analogy is beyond terrible. SP, regardless of who has been in it at any time, has always been Billy.

GNR, on the other hand, was truly the sum of its parts, especially Izzy, but Slash to a large degree as well.

Did Corgan fire the drummer?

The Smashing Pumpkins are releasing two albums in 2015. One of them is called Monuments to an Elegy, and as they write on their website, the album will feature drumming from Tommy Lee. Yes: the Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe.

Lee will reportedly be featured on all nine tracks, the tentative titles of which were revealed in a previous post on the band's website.

It's not Jimmy, but then again no one is, but I've always liked Tommy Lee, so this is a upgrade.
