Season 12 tonight folks. Anyone still in or are you all sick and tired of Gordon and company?

The show was renewed through season 13

I know interest and commentary on this and MasterChef have dwindled a lot over the last couple of seasons. I'm guessing most of you think it's just more of the same every season.

I'm still in. I can't get enough beef wellington, scallops, rissotto, John Dory, etc.

Just like being able to start a fire on Survivor, one should be able to cook scallops in their sleep on this show.

Hell yeah. It's been all too long since the last one. The dance number was a little out of sorts but otherwise I thought it was solid.

Ugh, I'm getting so tired of this formula and the Fox bombast, but I'm still watching for the time being (sigh).

This show is the definition of a guilty pleasure for me. I still don't get why Ramsay went mental on that guy for sticking his finger in the risotto when he himself seems to personally molest every single scallop that comes off the line.

Re: Hell's Kitchen (FOX) -- Season 12 Thread -- Premieres 3/13/14

This show always reminds me of basic training. Ramsey is basically like a drill instructor putting stress and pressure on people who aren't used to it and causing them to mess up. I remember my drill instructor watching over a guy as he wrote his last name on his duffle bag and screaming at him so loud to hurry up as he did it that he spelled his name wrong. I'm sure each one of the cooks on this show are really good but are not used to that kind of pressure - so they wind up doing crazy things.

I also thought Ramsey went overboard on the guy who was sticking his fingers in the risotto. I think, unfortunately, his "everybody does it" is probably pretty accurate.

I've only seen clips of this show off and on over the years and Ramsey seems so angry! But then I watched the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares and found him to truly want to help people. The swearing was casual but nothing like on the US version or on the clips I've seen of this show.

Are past seasons on Netflix or something like that?

You can't really compare this and Kitchen Nightmares. One is "procedural reality TV" the other is a season long game show

I agree with Grundle. On Kitchen Nightmares his whole job is to spend the first 15 minutes saying "Oh no! Oh my god! What are you doing?!!? This is awful! Let's look in the freezer - OH NO! How much is in here? When was this cooked? What IS THIS? When's the last time you cleaned? Tito who is the local plumber, dentist, and your head chef is doing a terrible job!"

On Hell's Kitchen his job is to just yell and scream at everyone until someone doesn't crack under the pressure as much as the rest = winner.

I prefer Hell's Kitchen

Which begs the question Kitchen Nightmares UK, Kitchen Nightmares US or Restaurant Impossible with Irvine, which is the better show?

Kitchen Nightmares UK although there's a new show in the UK called The Restaurant Man that was on the same level as KN.

I love Kitchen Nightmares UK. Great show. It's what I wish it would be here. I think all of the episodes are available on Netflix. Here's a shocker: sometimes Gordon even loves the food!!!!

Step 1: Get rid of the FOX in-house narrator and have Ramsay do any voice-over work required.

^That would be a good start, but I fear anything by Fox will turn out to be shit.

Re: Hell's Kitchen (FOX) -- Season 12 Thread -- Premieres 3/13/14

It's not even the fox crap. If you look at the first season and a half of the US version, it's people that actually wanted help. Then it just turned into people that wanted exposure for themselves. They could care less about any actual help.

I don't think it would work without Ramsey going psycho on people. That's why people watch his shows now.
