The Walking Dead -- "Still" -- 3/02/14

Faced with the day-to-day survival of life outside shelter, a simple request by someone in the group leads to a bizarre but enlightening mission.

It was really slow but I ended up enjoying this one.

I'm guessing the last four episodes revolve around getting them all back together and that the next big threat will only be hinted at during the finale and be a factor next season.

So you can show the middle finger, but you still can't actually use the word? Why'd Daryl snap the arrow? My TV kept pixelating. Stylish direction and cinematography, production values remain very high.

I actually liked that, but the ending was a bit corny.

I never complain about the show.
I'm a big fan. But this was a long boring hour.

The writers didn't gave them much, but both actors are not that talented. Sorry to all the Daryl fans but the actor can't handle a full hour.

Aside from the Mountain Goats, this episode sucked. This show has become just a wasted hour of my life every Sunday night. Does anyone even enjoy this crap anymore?

Much better than the Carl episode a few weeks ago.

It was good. I'd give it a B.

I thought it was already broken and he just snapped it to make sure he wouldn't use it again.

Damn, I quite liked this episode. Actual character development and some meat for the actors to chew on, and that opening set piece was good too. Apparently I'm in the minority though.

Don't listen to the complainers, it was the best episode of The Walking Dead in a very long time. It was almost certainly the best episode from this season to date.

I suspect if Beth's character was just a little older that her and Daryl would be entering into a relationship. The pair had very good chemistry in the episode and we also got Daryl's "origin" story.

I kept thinking to myself all of Rick's screen time in the future should be given to Daryl. Reedus is by far the best actor left on the program now that the other great actors have been killed off on the series.

There was a funny outtake from last week's Justified episode, a spot where Boyd yells FUCK and Daryl Jr says, "You can't say that word on FX, Boyd. You can't use the word 'fuck' on FX." I swear it's been used before on The Shield.

I didn't like the musical outro.

Couldn't you burn the house after you get some shut eye? Yes, let's burn the house and then walk around in the dark.

"You're going to be the last man standing", Daryl is toast.

That was a quite obvious tell, Daryl is always at the front of the action. He'll definitely get killed in the final episode, whenever it airs in 2024.

That final song was a little too overt in its lyrics in regards to Daryl. I've never thought much of the music selection used on The Walking Dead, it's as subtle as a hammer.

@ JB Smoove saying "Daryl needs to get a piece of that (Beth) ass" followed by his "get some ass" dance. (Talking Dead)

Yes, it was presumably already cracked. That's why he missed the squirrel.

Pretty good episode. A bit strange that they had to use glass and a mirror to start a fire, but then used/wasted a match to start the fire and burn down what should've been their shelter for the night.

Even if I were tempted to burn the cabin in the daylight, I'd prefer to keep it around as a hiding spot if I ever returned to the area.

I had a different thought on the arrow. I think they are starting to rot and he's going to run out eventually. Wood arrows, although he's been pulling them out of the bodies to save them, will wear out at some point and I think he was thinking this when he missed the squirrel.

Personally, I thought this week was great. This thread cracks me up week after week. The haters keep on saying I'm done and then keep making posts.

All I was thinking at the end was what if they created a forest fire. Who the hell is going to stop it? Zombie firefighters maybe.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Still" -- 3/02/14

I actually ended up liking this episode a lot too, maybe the best one of the season for me. It helps that I like both of what Daryl and Beth are going through, and both actors did well with how they were dealing with the pain. Unlike Carl and Rick's characters on the show.

The only thing silly was burning down the house at night, which i thought immediately of too. Also, I do hope parts of the gang meet up soon. As much as I enjoyed this, I don't want them apart for so long.

I think the house burning happened b/c they were both drunk, and drunk Beth saw it as a symbolic way for Daryl to wash himself from the past.

Sure, they would have been better off just staying in the house until morning and leaving, but drunk people sometimes make stupid decisions.

That's your problem there.

You need to start drinking heavily on Sunday nights.
