At what point in Star Wars Episode 1 were your hopes crushed?
I was so fucking excited for the prequel trilogy... I remember getting chills sitting in the theatre when the scroll started as I am sure most of you did.
So, how far into the movie did your hopes sink that this was going to be a shitfest?

Is that racist?
This thread seems like regular circle jerk bs we've had lately here but...I like ejaculating.
I was a kid. 12 years old. Never was a SW fan. I just wanted to see fight scenes between 2 white dudes and some red and black motherfucker with fucked up teeth. I though it was alright as a kid. A little bit boring for the most part. But that last fight was worth it at that time. I wasn't really amazed by it. But it was neat. So yeah. That's my Ep. 1 experience.
I had no SW hopes. I think the only thing I hoped for at that age was growing my generic mexican Mustache like every other Mexican boy.

I think it was about 30-40 minutes in. I came in with high hopes but it slowly dawns on you that 1) this Jake Lloyd kid can't act for shit, 2) WTF is this Jar Jar Binks and why does it talk like that?, 3) Natalie Portman is acting like a zombie for no good reason, and 4) the meandering storyline. If a movie doesn't grab you within it's first half hour, chances are it never will.

When Darth Maul was killed. Yeah the lil kid sucked, so did Jar-Jar but man Darth Maul was a badass and I wanted to see what he was gonna bring to the new trilogy and then, he died.

Not sure... but the best things about Ep.1 are better than the best things of Ep.2 and 3 if that matters.

Call my naive, call me someone with bad cinematic taste, but I enjoyed Episode 1. I knew it was no where near the excitment and wonder of the original movies, but I had fun watching it and couldn't wait for the next installment, thinking that was when things were really going to get good.
Boy, I will never forget how depressed I was leaving Episode 2. That was where I got crushed.

First tremor that something was wrong - entering the Gungan city.
I was still hopeful after I walked out of the theater that awesomeness still awaited in the last tow films.
Overall sense that the series was lost - the sand speech from Episode II.

When I read the reviews the day it was released. I remember that the critics were, of course, attacked by the internet at large before everyone else saw it too.

Jar Jar Binks was annoying but as soon as medichlorians were mentioned I was a bit let down. It wasn't until Attack Of The Clones that I felt like George Lucas kicked me in the nuts.

When I saw how static the CG looked during the trailer. It was visually unappealing. But I wasn't much of a SW fan to begin with.

I was never completely disappointed by the prequels. I still say all three could be greatly improved by another pass through the editing bay with the inclusion of any extra character scenes and an overall tightening of the pace. But they are not the cinematic disasters that some would have you believe.

Jar Jar's voice was an abomination that would have been shot down by any sane studio head, but Lucas had no one to answer to in making the Prequels. He must have been solely surrounded by Yes men at that point.

While not nearly as good as the original trilogy, it sounds like a lot of people here are grousing about their unrealistically high expectations not being met.

People have said this multiple times as a huge fuck up but it still bothers me that Padme was older in Anakin in the first one then in the second 2 they were the same age. Also "Yippee" and Jar Jar. I can't believe people camped out for that shit.

About 5 minutes into the first "Trade federation" conversation I knew this wasn't going be a fun movie. Then by the time we first see the Italian accented, ghetto trash slave owner on Tattooine, I was done.
Between the voices of Jar Jar, Boss Nass, the Italian slave owner, and the race announcers, episode I must rank among the top for worst voiced film in history.

When I realized Ric Olie wasnt going to be the new Han Solo. I probably shouldn't have bought so many of his action figures as an investment.
