Re: Helix -- "The White Room" -- 1/31/14
There was a little bit of ridiculousness (poorly scripted/delivered lines), but it was a very good episode. Last week it seemed as if the story bogged down a little, but this week kicked things back into gear.
My three favorite things from this episode:
1.) the peek-a-boo rat ... Certainly didn't expect that on TV.
2.) the main doctor losing it and admitting the plastic face shields are a joke
3.) reheated frozen naked zombie monkeys

Seems like they are munching through their regular characters if you look at the photo above. It is pretty interesting. Will admit I am not sure where it is going.

It's a pretty interesting show. Yes, it's a B TV show, the kind of show you expect in this kind of network. But so far this is working great for me.
I'm really surprised that this is only the fifth episode of the season and a lot has happened.
Sometimes it feels like a Frankenstein show, you see parts are patched up, and brilliantly some of them work great.
Also, the acting is great from some actors, and really bad from some others.
Good show!

I have a sinking feeling, given the rate that they are killing off the cast, that this is all some sort of "induced" dream or hallucination scenario, or something, and most of them will return in some capacity.

I really hope not. I'm loving this show so far, but that would be a "jump the shark" moment for me for sure.

They did have some interesting developments in this episode but I will watch future episodes only if I can find the time. The plotting is sub-par for something so grounded in hard sci-fi. I assume by the end of the season, everything we think we know about these characters will be turned on its head. The stunt with hallucinations is a cheap tactic and wasn't implemented very well in this episode.
They are killing off so many characters, expect resurrections before the end of the season. Hiroki is likely immortal or something.

I hate when smart people do so many dumb things. I know it happens all the time on TV but the plot isn't really good enough for it.

I'm liking where they are so far. Not sure how you could expand this thing beyond a dozen or so episodes but I'm in for the ride right now.

I kept seeing Futurama when the heads came out of the ground and yes, I expected it to at least open its eyes, haha.
I like the show...one thing that bothered me is the girl keeping the infected in her room the episode after she was totally offended that the ex-wife would imply she would put everyone at risk for her own safety by not taking the swab test. She gives a big speech about doing whats right, takes the swab test to prove her point and then keeps an infected in her room for a few days.
