In the West Coast of course.

I actually don't care much about the awards, it's the principle. Emmys, fucking Golden Globes and of course the Oscars are aired live in the West Coast.

CBS doesn't care about the West Coast.

I've ALWAYS hated how the West Coast has gotten stuff on delay that was live on the east coast. I never even watched Saturday Night Live because it was never LIVE over here, and I heard that more than once they would edit naughty stuff that made it on the air over there. It's like we're 2nd-class citizens- Alaska and Hawaii must be even worse of course.

And why does ANYONE even CARE about the Grammys after the Milli Vanilli fiasco? The music biz as a whole is in the toilet right now, and seeing what's been nominated is a pretty good reason why.

I never knew any of the awards shows aired live on the West Coast. Granted, I've never cared about them.

Maybe because it would start at 5pm PST when many people aren't home. Higher ratings when it airs at 8

It's all about 60 minutes. We in the Eastern Time zones get everything pushed back almost every Sunday night for this creaky old program. If it's not football season, it's golf. If it's not golf it's tennis. If it's not tennis, it's dwarf bowling or some shit that throws our DVR programming off by 30 minutes to an hour almost every single week, so that this show can air in it's entirety.

So I can only assume that CBS doesn't show this live on the west coast so that they still have room for this crap to air beforehand. Because really, no one who watches this would be awake if they aired it afterward instead.

What does Milli Vanilla not singing on their records have to do with the Grammys? Were they somehow supposed to know that fact?

I'd blame it on illegal downloads more than, "There's no more good music." People are still listening to music... they're just not buying as much of it. As for the industry being in the toiler, I think Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z do OK. So do many other artists.

I still watch the Grammys (via DVR) because I don't listen to music radio anymore and it's one of the ways I see what has done well over the last year. I'm all about the live performances (whether on award shows, talk shows, or reality competitions, etc.).

It was pretty obvious just from listening that they were hardly deserving of any "award" in the first place. And Justin Timberlake deserves a music award about as much as Rob Schneider deserves an Oscar.

I can't stand most popular music nowadays but this is just a flat out stupid comment. You might not like his style of music but he actually has some talent as opposed to 90 % of the people that are nominated.

You sort of answered your own question. Those other award shows are about the winners. They have to air live because people want to see who wins.

The Grammys show is much more about the live concert performances.

If you live in the Greater Seattle area, many folks watch CBC's coverage of the Olympics, because they show the games live, and not on Tape Delay.

If you don't like the west coast delays, find someone to stream it to you online.

OR if you have a backyard and don't have some crazy strict HOA, put up a C-band satellite dish. An 8ft min. size dish can get you the east coast network feeds. Look hard enough you might find someone willing to part away with their old giant mesh antenna "eyesores" for free.

Golden Globes are carried live on the West Coast at 5pm followed by a replay at 8pm and the Oscars are live on the West Coast too.

I miss my west coast feeds of many channels from when I left DirecTV.

HBO. Comedy Central -was always nice on a Sunday to have the HBO Show at 6pm, rather than 9.
and same Colbert/Stewart were always watchable that evening rather than at 11pm

The Grammys could take place in my backyard, and I wouldn't watch. Corporate art is self-congratulatory enough, it doesn't need to formally award itself.
