Modern Family - "Three Dinners" - 1/22/14
DINNER TIME DOES NOT NECESSARILY EQUAL QUALITY TIME, ON ABC'S "MODERN FAMILY"
Chazz Palminteri ("The Usual Suspects") and Jennifer Tilly ("The Fabulous Baker Boys") Reprise Thiers Roles as Shorty and Darlene
"Three Dinners" - Phil and Claire take Haley out to dinner to discuss her future, but Haley manages to turn the tables. Elsewhere, Jay's friend Shorty and wife Darlene are back visiting, and they have some news that doesn't sit well with Jay. And, Mitch and Cam decide to have a nice, romantic dinner date where they don't talk about the wedding or about Lily, which then leads to a lot of awkward silences, on "Modern Family," WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22 (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

It doesn't have anything to do with this episode, AND I KNOW SHE IS JUST 16 YEARS OLD, but here's a picture of Ariel Winter from last weekend's SAG Awards. Wow!

No Luke last night, but still a very funny episode - I even liked the Cam/Mitchell stuff, and they usually get on my nerves after a while.
"Who else is going to love me when the children are gone?" had me on the floor.

Interesting episode no Luke or Alex. I also usually dislike Cam and Mitchell but the whole no talking about Lilly or the wedding made it fun. Funny dinner with the Eddie McClintock from Warehouse 13.
Haley turning the tables on her parents was fun. The Jay and Gloria portion was the weak part of this episode I thought.

This episode was pretty good and made me do something I never thought I would which is actually enjoy a Cam/Mitchell storyline. I actually think they had the best laughs tonight. I also liked Haley turning the tables on her parents. The Jay storyline was a stinker though. Maybe that's what the problem with this show is. Every episode has to have three story lines going on. Maybe the writers are just running out of ideas.

Did not like the Cam & Mitchell plot, it was the worst kind of sitcom dreck.
Jay and his friend insulting each other was pretty funny, then sobbing on each other.
Best one was Haley and her parents, especially when they were both drunk and couldn't pay for the meal. Good laugh with them having to go back to Haley to get a dollar for the valet,
