the only thing that feels off is Joel not wanting to work on this and being all "it is over except for the kids". they were too good before for it to spiral this deeply. if they do split, at least Joel can be the mayor of MILF city.

Nah, I see his point. The problem is really Julia. Once she stopped working and became a stay at home mother, she really just didn't give a shit that Joel made the same sacrifices in his career to be a stay at home father.

/\ Pretty much. I loved the moment when she proposed marriage counseling, and he replied that "The problem is you."

My wife is 100% with Joel too. I think he can try a little bit more. I know he will later.
I know not all the seasons can be Adam centered, but oh man, how I missed that. In this episode that they dedicated more time to his family, it was really great to see that. That's what makes the show strong.
I mean, I always say that he's too perfect. I joke to my wife that "I want a HUSBAND like that", etc. But sometimes it's really refreshing to see the writing of his character.

Someone on another forum pointed out that in the first season, when Joel was a stay at home dad, he became friends with a mom who kissed him and Julia understood. I honestly don't remember this plot point very well, but if so, Joel is majorly hypocritical.
