Community - "Basic Intergluteal Numismatics" - 1/9/14
01/09/2014 (08:00PM - 08:30PM) (Thursday) : A BRAZEN BANDIT INVADES GREENDALE - SURREPTITIOUSLY DROPPING COINS DOWN THE BACKS OF PEOPLE'S PANTS - Everyone is up in arms when an anonymous bandit starts dropping coins down people's pants. While Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) mobilizes the school to investigate, Jeff (Joel McHale) and Annie (Alison Brie) pursue their own theories - methodically interrogating staff members. When someone eventually confesses, the school heaves a sigh of relief, but Jeff thinks there is more to the story than meets the eye. Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover and Ken Jong also star. Jonathan Banks and John Oliver guest star. TV-14 D

Not to mention that the episode was built from a throw away joke in season 2. Three episodes into season 4 and we've got another classic episode.

I think David Fincher would be proud.

Through the first half or so of this episode I thought it felt like little more than a retread of both the conspiracy theory and the Law and Order episodes, but by the end I was hooked. It also seems like this one was setting the stage for an entire season's worth of stories. I assume the bandit, Pierce's death, the Jeff/Annie thing (obviously not a new plot point), and maybe something with Duncan will all be developed further. I also assume that this will have something to do with Troy leaving.
Side note: I'm embarrassed to admit that despto season 2.

Know I am in the majority, but thought it was meh. I only liked Donald Glover in this and he was only a but part.

That song killed me, especially the first iteration... "It's not quarter to dawn; it's quarter to ASS". I just read that Ben Folds did that, which makes it even funnier.

I didn't really care for the episode either, not sure if it was the mood I was in since I was pretty tired and preoccupied last night while watching, but I didn't find anything that funny. It was nice to see Duncan and Starburns back though.

The thing that makes this episode great, is unfortunately the reason that most who aren't fans won't enjoy it. It's got so much stuff going on that a casual observer would think it didn't make any sense.
As a fan however, this may have been a top 5 episode of Community for me.
I guess we're FINALLY moving the Jeff/Annie thing along...

It's ridiculous how hot/cute/adorable Alison Brie is... It's painful to watch actually.

guess I'm in the minority here - thought this was a dumb as dirt episode. clever to a point, but ultimately elicited a big 'ol - 'wtf?' from me.

So was this supposed to be a direct takeoff of Zodiac or just that genre in general? I really need to watch Zodiac again now.
