Modern Family - "And One to Grow On" - 1/8/14
"And One to Grow On" - Phil tricks Luke into taking a dance class, but the jokes on him when the white lie indirectly lands him in the slammer. Meanwhile, Jay and Gloria are throwing birthday parties for both Manny and Joe and are concerned Manny might be going for girls out of his league, and Mitch and Cam get a rude awakening in the cutthroat world of booking a wedding venue, on "Modern Family," WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8 (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

everyone's given up on the show?
what's up with Alex's eyebrows? That's all I got. Though the balloons/accents line from Jay made me do a minor spit take b/c i didn't see it coming.

That line was funny. The ending bit was so incredibly predictable and unfunny that I was just rolling my eyes.

I'll admit to not really paying attention to this one. No Maggie Lawson. Instead that Fun Night thingy so I got playing on the computer and never really paid attention. I remember hearing the wife laugh a few times but I just couldn't pay attention for more than a few minutes.

This episode was sso-so. I really hate the manny and hope they get rid of him. The storyline with Manny was very "been there, done that" and should not have been the focus. I wish they'd just get Manny a girlfriend that's as weird as him and just phase out his amorous endeavours altogether.

Yeah this episode sucked. I liked Jay's line about ballons and Phil's line about not going by the comic store because he's respected. But otherwise nothing about it was funny. The Cam and Mitch storyline being the worst(shocker) and I agree about just giving Manny a girlfriend.

"More like Footloser."
Mediocre episode overall but had a few good lines. Mitch and Cam's story was far-fetched even by normal standards (someone else booked their spot in the span of 30 seconds and now the only reasonable thing to do is stalk a pair of 16 year old girls).
I can't get over how awkward Luke has become. I mean obviously he can't help it but he would never be cast in a show as he is now. The writers must be struggling with it, do they write for a mischievous kid or a teenager?

Shows tend to really fall apart once they start with the wedding planning plots. This is no different. Cam and Mitch have been lame for awhile now but I always thought they were watchable. Now with a wedding storyline I've just found myself zoning out during their scenes.
I liked everything else in this episode though. I'm looking forward to see where this thing goes with Manny and the girl. Introducing a steady girlfriend for him will help since the character has become rather bland.
It has become tough to watch Luke now. It's too bad because he was cast perfectly as a kid.

Yeah, didn't really care for this episode. Was hoping it would maintain the quality from the Bryan Cranston-directed episode last month, but not the case.

Fell asleep....no intentions of watching this episode again.
Really hope some people watch The Middle. Way funnier.

The Middle is really the best part of Wednesdays for me. Modern family just isn't very believable anymore. Looking forward to Suburgatory next week as well. Shame it's likely the last season of that show.

Sorry for the bump, but I'm clearing off the DVR...
Does it seem like MF jumps around and just completely drops storylines? We never even see the girl with the coat that Manny put all those things in the pocket for, and then the next episode he and Luke are going out with the twins. I was hoping some kind of payoff at least from Manny's storyline. Just makes the show feel disjointed to me.
