Community - Season Premiere - "Repilot" / "Introduction to Teaching" - 1/2/14

01/02/2014 (08:00PM - 08:30PM) (Thursday) : THE STUDY GROUP REUNITES TO SAVE GREENDALE FROM LEGAL TROUBLES - ROB CORDDRY GUEST STARS - Jeff (Joel McHale) returns to Greendale when his former law partner Alan Connor (guest star Rob Corddry, "Hot Tub Time Machine 2") recruits him to gather evidence for a lawsuit he is pursuing. Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) is thrilled to see Jeff back at Greendale. Thinking he is there to help save the school, he quickly calls the study group back together - surprising Jeff with a reunion. Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover and Ken Jeong also star. TV-14 DL

Meanwhile, Abed (Danny Pudi) convinces the study group to take a new class, "Nicolas Cage: Good or Bad," with Professor Garrity (guest star Kevin Corrigan, "The Dictator"). Chevy Chase is gone. Donald Glover is leaving after 5 episodes. Lots of guest stars to this year including: David Cross, Chris Elliott, Paul Williams, Gina Gershon, Brie Larson, Jonathan Banks, Vince Gilligan, Walton Goggins.

In my perfect world this would be a complete do-over of season 4 with Troy and Pierce fully on board, but this will have to do. I was afraid that this season would be too little, too late, but the various trailers released so far have restored what faith I may have lost.

I'm looking forward to this. Last season I enjoyed the shows while I watched them, but I rewatched all of season 4 in the last few days and now they strike me as mostly duds.

Glad Brie Larson will be returning. Her guest appearance in that double-dance episode was one of last season's few redeeming qualities.

They haven't said officially, but it's very likely. But, with this show you never know. It's survived death several times.
I heard one of the reasons why it came back this year was NBC picking up The Blacklist (also produced by Sony) and they got a deal for Community.

I think most people here tried to force last season into a 'it's still better than most shows' prism, but no, 95% of last season was utter shit. Sometimes you gotta call a spade a spade. It was a failure on every level.
I consider myself a completionist when it comes to shows on DVD/BD but if I were collecting this show, there would be a gap where season 4 is supposed to go. Lost remains incomplete at 5 seasons as well.

Funny, I had the almost exact opposite experience. I was viewing them last year with a much too critical eye, but when I watched season 4 again recently, I really didn't notice that they weren't from the "vintage" era episodes at all.

I loved the Nic Cage stuff. Especially when Abed first started channeling him.
