What are you reading? (January 2014)
This book has been on a lot of Best of 2013 lists.
"One of the best novels I've read this century. Kate Atkinson is a marvel. There aren't enough breathless adjectives to describe LIFE AFTER LIFE: Dazzling, witty, moving, joyful, mournful, profound."—Gillian Flynn, author of Gone Girl
"The new Kate Atkinson, Life After Life, is a terrific read." - Stephen King

Re: What are you reading? (January 2014)
Started the first book in my challenge to read 60 books this year. Last year I read 52 books with a goal of 50. So I am going to push myself to read more this year.

I'm trying to read 52 books this year, this will be number 3 (only because I had one I didn't quite finish before 2013 ended, so it goes on the 2014 list).

Re: What are you reading? (January 2014)
Just started Helen Smith's "The Miracle Inspector".
I'm only only one chapter in but the author's "voice" is such that I am sure this could make an ideal BBC Radio 4 Book at Bedtime - it has the feel of a piece of writing that it would be easy to listen to... I think there is a particular archness to it. And then there is the slow but sure revelation of the physical and chronological setting of the piece which is also paced to keep the reader's (or listener's) attention.

That one is on my "to read" list. I read the first a year or two ago and really enjoyed it. I heard some negatives on this book that caused me to push it back. I think there is a 3rd and maybe 4th book out in the series as well.
