Kevin Costner in "Liam Neeson-style Taken mode":

Looks fun in a Taken meets RED kind of way. I hope it's rated R.

^ I noticed you conveniently left out the "McG directing..."

McG has never made an R rated film. I doubt that bold risk taker of a director is starting to make them now.

Perversely, McG is probably the closest thing to and auteur that's ever worked on anything in the Besson stable. Luc Besson, lord of Eurotrash, proof that B-movie isn't dead just yet. I was one of the few people who didn't like Taken, most of the Besson stuff I've hung around for is because of the Hong Kong guys he's brought along, though I thoroughly enjoyed the District 13 movies. I'll probably give this a rental at the very least.

That film is rather the exception to the rule, but you're right, yes he did. But you're also assuming I think a film being "trash" is a bad thing, which is hardly accurate at all . As Pauline Kael herself said, if you want to be a film fan, you must learn to appreciate "great trash."

Besson has some Eurotrash under his belt, no doubt, but he's far too varied to be pigeonholed.

That is true, though the ratio of trashy B-movies to everything else is high. I was surprised as hell to see his name on Three Burials, he does occasionally do some more arty stuff too or other genres too.

Between Man of Steel, Jack Ryan, and this, it looks like Costner is finally making good role choices again - I'm in for this as well. Looks fun.

Directed by McG...ugh.
Guess it depends on which Besson shows up. The producer of The Professional, or the producer of Taken 2.

Whats the word on this? I can't imagine Costner bringing the goods with action.

I think I might see this on Saturday. I'd like to see Costner taking on this badass spy role like Liam Neeson.
