Psych: The Musical -- 12/15/13
Synopsis:
Spoiler:
I'm not a fan of musicals, but it's Psych so I'm hoping for the best. If Juliet dances, it should be a winner.
New season starts Jan. 8th.

The musical numbers were slightly disappointing.
The story was actually pretty good, though, and Ally Sheedy as Yang was awesome as usual.

As much as I love this show it was a chore to watch. I knew it was not going to click. I don't mind experimental musicals like Buffy or even Scrubs. Those ones worked. This one didn't. Annoying would be the word.
Oh well, new season coming

I guess I'm in the minority since I loved every minute of it.
I especially loved when the dad showed up at the beginning and refused to sing so much as a single verse. My only disappointment was that they

It was okay. I did love the fact that they name dropped Harold Baines.

Like most of season 7, which this is from, I found it pretty disappointing. I felt they sort of lost their way a bit, I hope they get back on track for season 8.
With that said, this show has so much potential for a musical episode like this. I think the only stand outs were the opening number and 'I've Heard it Both Ways'.

Even though she can't sing worth a damn I'd love to bag Maggie Lawson. She is one of those ultimate girl next door types.
Didn't really care for this. We DVR'd it and watched last night. I got bored and went to bed.

The first 5-10 minutes were a struggle, even for my wife who loves the show more than I do. After that, the story kicked in and I loved it.
The one song that I enjoyed was the "I've Heard it Both Ways" number.

I generally don't care for musicals but I didn't have a problem with this. I found it easier to sit through than Mamma Mia or Les Miserables, at least.

Didn't care for this episode. I don't consider myself as someone who likes musicals, but thinking about it I actually enjoy a lot of them. The biggest issue was that for the most part the songs just weren't very good.
That said, the chief's brief number was my favorite part. She's easily the best singer of the regular cast and the choreography with the two cops was pretty good as well. Jimmi Simpson's cameo was nice to see as well.
I think this would have worked a lot better if they had kept it to an hour. Keep the basic plot, but move up the introduction of Yang and have her requirement to be living a musical provide the rationale for why everyone sings. They could have started out with some "lame" improved stuff to humor her but have her demand higher production values as the show went along.

Perhaps a little, but it's still very good.
I liked the first number and "I've heard it both ways". I agree, for the most part, the songs were not very good. And this distracted me so much from the plot, that I didn't think overall it was a very good episode. No one has done it as well as Buffy. I had pretty high hopes for this, but was ultimately disappointed.
