The Vampire Diaries -- "Death and the Maiden" -- 11/14/13

Synopsis:

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

"Death and the Maiden" (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

THE POWER OF DOPPLEGANGERS - While Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) try to explain Amara's (Nina Dobrev) situation to Stefan (Paul Wesley), Dr. Wes (guest star Rick Cosnett) gives Katherine (Nina Dobrev) some deeply disturbing news. Nadia (guest star Olga Fonda) shows up at Caroline's (Candice Accola) dorm room, searching for Katherine. After a surprising conversation with Amara, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) share a glimmer of hope. Silas (Paul Wesley) fails to keep a promise, causing Damon to turn to Tessa (guest star Janina Gavankar) for help with his new plan, and Stefan makes a heartbreaking confession to Damon and Elena. Leslie Libman directed the episode written by Rebecca Sonnenshine (#507).

Good to have Bonnie back and the Silas stuff wrapped up since it cut into this season. It also appears most shows know NOT to have people lose their memory for too long since that is rather overused.

Except for the never ending love triangle, no one could really accuse this show of not keeping things moving at a brisk pace.

You would think after 2000 years you'll just get over it and find someone new. I thought they would carry the storyline longer but I'm glad they moved on. College life seems more interesting.

Dobrev did an excellent job playing 3 roles. Better had got a nice bonus pay

Agreed - after only 7 eps they quickly moved through a lot of plot. After several full season plot lines I'm surprised it wrapped so soon.

Julie Plec needs to check her words - she thought Dobrev was beyond great ahead of this ep and talked her up. Sure she was good, but since Plec name checked Malsany she doesn't have any room to be talking up Dorbrev in comparison!

Dobrev was okay playing the three roles but agree it wasn't an award-winning performance like Maslany's job. I thought at least Amara would hang around longer. Silas wore out his welcome, the character had become a bad villain parody by the end.

I actually thought Silas this year was better than the professor walking around last year giving signs and portents. Plus I was laughing so hard during the intro segment at the bus stop!
