Steam "Big Picture" - Games wont launch on TV
Tried this for the 1st time last night and it didn't work.
Shutdown computer, disconnect HDMI cable from monitor, connect HDMI cable to tv, start computer, change input on tv. Start steam, click on "Big Picture", navigate interface with Xbox 360 controller, select game, click play, and...
Window pops up with error message "Game has stopped working... Windows is looking for solutions to your problem". Nothing. Tried a few other games, all failed to launch with some error message or other. Both monitor and tv are 1080p, but I messed around with resolution anyway, to no avail. Video settings show tv as "Generic PnP monitor" which I assume is normal. All these games play normally when using Big Picture on my monitor.
Any ideas? Video card is Radeon HD 7770.

Got the game to work but when it launches, my tv goes to 1080p 24hz mode.
Edited: A search revealed that others have had the same issue with Samsung tv's. I just used a slightly lower customized resolution to preserve 60hz and selected it in game.

No idea. I did a quick search for a solution and people kept mentioning Samsung tv's, so it looks like several models of LCD.

Now that I think of it, 1080p 24hz is Blu-ray playback mode and I always leave my tv on "movie mode".
Maybe that's what forces the change to 24hz. I'll set the resolution back to 1080p and try another mode and see what happens.

How are you running the games to your monitor, cloning the monitor or switching to your tv as the only monitor? Are your tv and the monitor the same resolution and refresh rate?

Re: Steam "Big Picture" - Games wont launch on TV
I unplug the monitor and plug in the tv (HDMI). Both the tv and monitor are 1080p 60hz.
I finished the game (Sniper 2 Ghost Warrior) which was causing the tv to switch to 24 hz and started playing 'Spec Ops: The Line' and that game plays fine at 1080p 60hz. So I'm starting to think that this is a case by case thing. I'd forgotten how finicky PC gaming can be.
