How I Met Your Mother - "The Lighthouse" - 11/4/13

"The Lighthouse" - When Robin and Loretta's conflict escalates, Barney is caught in the middle. Meanwhile, Marshall and Daphne deal with a stowaway on their road trip, and Ted and Cassie try to enjoy a trip to a lighthouse, on the final season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, Nov. 4 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Frances Conroy returns as Barney's mother, Loretta, and Anna Camp guest stars as Cassie, Ted's weekend date.

is it just me or is that no way the Ted Mosby we've known for 8 years proposes?

Carrie-Anne Moss still gets my vote to play Robin's mother.

Yeah, that was out of character. But maybe Ted finally realized he's a thirtysomething man and not a sixteen year-old girl.

Got some laughs out of this, but a really uneven episode.

I still get a chuckle out of the constant drink in Lily's hand, "Thank you, Linus."

For the past couple of weeks, I've been completely skipping everything that happens on that godawful road trip. How can they split up the group like that during the last season?

Not a great episode, but I thought it was by far the strongest of the season. Some good laughs, and some heart touching moments with Robin

As soon as they started talking about Robin's mother, I realized that we've never met her and know nothing about her. Not a bad episode (Anna Camp ) but enough with Marshall's road trip.

I really hope Marshall being separated from the group is leading somewhere and is more than just a plot device to keep him and Lily from confronting each other about him accepting the judgeship.

Even though she's also Canadian, she's not old enough to play her mother me thinks.

I know that Segel was reluctant to sign up for season 9. I was wondering if perhaps this was a plot device to let him film his scenes all at once (for the most part) or make coming and going easier.

I liked most of the episode, except for the Marshalls parts of course.

Ted and the mother have so much chemistry together. I would watch a rom-com movie starring them.

15 year age difference in real life, but I don't think that's a nonstarter.

Although that could be turned into a story about Barney worrying how Robin was going to age (after maybe seeing a few other relatives that look terrible for their age) only to meet Robin's mom and be thrilled.

Robin's mother needs to be Anne Murray.

Apparently the reason they're doing it is because he's in the middle of filming a movie and it was their way to get him into every episode until he comes back. They probably did all of his bits in one night.

If this is correct, that's pretty nuts! That means they had to basically have all the scripts done way ahead of time to accommodate him.

Or just the scripts for his scenes.
