I have the SD-1200 already and it's great, plays every movie out there and never screws up. But I wanted a second DVD player now and the SD-1200 isn't available anywhere anymore. So my question is what is the difference between this and the SD-1600? I mean it seems to me that just looking at the specs that they are exactly the same. So what's the deal here. Here are the specs links from the Toshiba website:
SD 1200: http://www.toshiba.ca/ceg/html/Sd1200.htm
SD 1600: http://www.toshiba.ca/ceg/html/Sd1600.htm
SD 1200: http://www.toshiba.ca/ceg/html/Sd1200.htm
SD 1600: http://www.toshiba.ca/ceg/html/Sd1600.htm

Have you played "American Beauty" without any problems?
I read somewhere the improvement was in the remote...I could be wrong.

One of my friends told me that SD1600 doesn't play VCDs.
If you look carefully on the specs on the Toshiba site (American or Canadian sites) neither mentions VCDs for SD1600, however, they specify VCD format for SD1200.

If that's an improvement the 1200 must have been wired in. The remote is about the worst I've seen. But the 1600 player is impressive. And no VCD or CD-R.
Check it out at Mercata.

Just picked up a new SD-1600 tonight... The remote buttons are pretty small, so they didn't improve that much, if at all. The only change I can see is the buttons on the front of the player being slightly different.

Funny thing, I haven't received my American Beauty yet from Amazon, it's packaged in with Gladiator, but why are you asking? Are there some problems?
