Disney/Pixar's Toy Story of Terror (ABC) - 10/16/13

Pixar's first special for television, "Toy Story OF TERROR!," a spooky new tale featuring all of your favorite characters from the "Toy Story" films, airs WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET).

What starts out as a fun road trip for the "Toy Story" gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. "One of the toys goes missing?"

Seriously, what the fuck Pixar? That's the plot of all three movies. Are they that creatively bankrupt with this franchise?

Love that they were able to get the original cast to play the voices on a TV Special.

Thank you Pixar for loving Toy Story enough to treat it (and us) with they respect it deserves.

ABC Family is rerunning it on Saturday Night if one needs to avoid potential DVR conflicts.

Is that an excuse? DreamWorks gets a ton of shit for their unoriginality while Pixar is some untouchable company. I don't get it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it will be fantastic, I'd just like to see something original with these characters.

Well, in this case it actually works.

Besides, "a toy goes missing" is pretty much the general major impact story for any child.

As much as I want to see Woody gets hooked on blow become the core story for one of the things they do with the property, I understand that's...probably...not...gonna...happen.

I thought this was ok. I could do without Mr. Pricklepants.

Same here.

The quality was out of this world, Pixar will NOT let anything go our their doors that does not have great VQ and this one does. The bathroom scene seemed to be real video...amazing.

Loved the story, Jesse made a great hero and she was a quick thinker in saving the gang.

Nice humor.

We are going to watch it when it is run again on Saturday night.

the 5.1 surround sound mix was also up to Pixar quality...

this was 22 minutes? I felt like less and like there was more commercials than usual.

I was just throwing that out there based on typical 30 minute programs.

Watched it last night, The kiddo loved it that is for sure.

I wonder if this will be the last we see of 'Billy's toys'

I thought it was really well done and cute. I liked the Prickle Pants thing describing horror movies, but then again I think that character is adorable. I almost forgot about how this is after Toy Story 3 and the new characters and now that they're Bonnie's.

Re: Disney/Pixar's Toy Story of Terror (ABC) - 10/16/13

Toy Story 3 was such a perfect ending, I kind of wish this hadn't picked up after it, doing a little TV special can't help feel a little like a cash-in that cheapens it a bit. This wasn't bad, CG is evolving so rapidly that every new project from Pixar looks more and more gorgeous, and this is no exception. The stuff with the toys being lit by Buzz was really cool. It's nice and lean, without the commercials it'd probably only be 20 minutes or so. I wonder how it'll end up on BR. Nice to have the cast back and love to see these characters again anyway. Like the other Toy Story movies, there's a bit of darkness to it, poor Bonnie! The guy was going to steal her toys, that's kind of disturbing for the poor kid. That's actually sad. It was pretty much Jesse's story, whatever happened to Bullseye? Dalton was funny, but his Kevin Williamson dialogue was kind of annoying. As Pixar do, there's some cool stuff you could only do with animation, like the scale of the toys interacting with the environment, though none of the action sequences are as superb as the ones in the movies. Nothing masterful, but not the terrible cash-in I was afraid it'd be. I wonder how it'll come out on BR?

They've already done 3 or 4 shorts that take place at Bonnie's house after TS3, what difference does it make now?

Re: Disney/Pixar's Toy Story of Terror (ABC) - 10/16/13

Very well done, but I'm partial to Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants.

I thought the work on the hotel bathroom and the horror movie DVD was exceptional. As was the attention to detail on the '80s 3 3/4" G.I. Joes in the form of Combat Carl, Jr.

My 3yo said he liked it as he was playing with his Disney Cars and Planes figures lol. Wearing his Monsters University Scare shirt and sitting on his Buzz Lightyear pillow.

Disney sure gets it don't they? lol
