Streaming player with big buffer?

Does any streaming device/player have a large buffer? I'm supposed to have 15 meg down and tests see to verify I do, but that is just a snapshot. Every time and I do mean EVERY single time I try to stream a movie it chokes a couple times. Do I need to say how much that pisses me off and ruins the experience? I would think a big enough buffer would fix that problem.

Maybe dedicated devices like Roku do have large buffers but they don't mention it as a selling point, at least I have never seen it mentioned. I could be that my xbox (now dead), PS3 and computer all suck at streaming and a dedicated device would work.

Any advice?

Re: Streaming player with big buffer?

My Roku will buffer on occasion. Mostly with AcornTV. However, in most cases it works fine. Lately I had an issue with the sync of audio and video, like a second off (again Acorn, Murdoch Mysteries). Really makes it difficult to enjoy a show when it looks like a bad dubbed Kung-Fu movie. However that said I've never seen any device mention a large buffer.

Amazon usually. Vudu now and then. Vudu actually looks better but they both choke.

I have 15 meg speed and nothing ever buffers and I've streamed from an Xbox, Panasonic blu-ray player, and Chromecast. I did have an issue with the Chromecast once but no problems other than the one time.

No problems except for Vudu. That buffers like a bitch.
