Re: 2013 Emmy Award Nominations

Tatiana Maslany not getting a Lead Actress nomination for her stellar work on "Orphan Black" is a disgrace, but sadly not surprising. Nonetheless, Emmy voters should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: 2013 Emmy Award Nominations

It depends on how well BBC America brought it to their attentions, if they didn't campaign for her then she wasn't getting nominated. Or if they submitted it at all. I do like that Jonathan Banks (Mike from Breaking Bad) and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) got nom'd.

Re: 2013 Emmy Award Nominations

I read several articles stating that BBC America definitely submitted Orphan Black and campaigned for Tatiana (billboards in LA, ads in trade magazines, etc.), but over the years, it looks like Emmy voters rarely consider science-fiction shows "drama," so those shows are screwed.

Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed Orphan Black S1 (and will be buying the Blu-ray soon for a re-watch), and am glad it did well enough for BBC America/Space to order a second season. Hopefully more people will discover this great show, and Tatiana Maslany's wonderful acting in it, between now and Spring 2014.

I really enjoyed the "supporting" performances of Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke on Game of Thrones. They really stole the show from the leading characters!

I thought that was funny as well.

If not this year, then definitely next. The only "Robbed!" thing I really see on there is the lack of Lily Rabe for AHS: Asylum, she was the highlight this season.

I'm happy and a bit surprised that Vera Farmiga got a nod. I found it odd that many experts and critics didn't have her on the prediction lists.

It'd be a toss up with Laura Prepon for best noodity if Orange/Black was eligible this year.

Mostly because I had a crush on Donna on That 70s Show.

Re: 2013 Emmy Award Nominations

YAY!
Vera Farmiga - I'd give her the emmy just for that first season finale esp. where she opens up to Norman right before he attends the winter formal

BOO!
no Tatiana Maslany
no Julianna Margulies - She and TGW are still strong. wow, I'd put her on the list before any of the ladies from ABC.
no love for The Americans
zilch again for The Middle
Scott Bakula gets a nom over Rob Lowe?
30 Rock noms (Will Forte, really?)

Re: 2013 Emmy Award Nominations

Have we reached a point in this new golden age of television where there are more deserving nominees than slots? I'm seeing a lot of 'my favorite wasn't nominated' (New Girl!), but not a lot of 'Ugh, they got nominated?!'

I agree with this. Nothing too upsetting on there.

Though I'm still a Modern Family fan, I hate that multiple people can be nominated from one show. I maintain that it's impossible for 3-5 of the best actors/actresses on TV to all be on one show. There are other people just as deserving.

Re: 2013 Emmy Award Nominations

Rypro, I believe every category is 5 slots, but if there is a tie for the #5 slot, then all actors/actresses/shows at #5 earn a nomination, which means this year the initial Emmy voting had a three-way tie for 5th place for Leading Actress in a Drama.

It's six slots standard now for the main categories.

And, yeah, I just finished up Orphan Black. Tatiana Maslany is excellent but I'm not really surprised by her omission here even though she does deserve recognition. The show just seems too small and didn't have anything else going for it in terms of nominations.

No new girl Noms was disappointing love all the game of thrones Noms.

Dinklage getting a nom over Nikolaj Coster-Waldau though is laughable.

Sad about the Americans, but the competition is that hard.

Other than that, I would love Breaking Bad to win everything.

Not surprising. F/X shows traditionally get little to no recognition from the Emmy idiots.

Modern Family deserved NO nominations this year.
Neither did Nashville
No Tatiana Maslany
No cinematography for Hannibal is just outrageous
And what the hell does Emmy Rossum have to do to get a nod!?
