Camp -- New NBC Comedy-Drama -- Season Thread -- 7/10/13
Synopsis:
As Little Otter Family Camp resumes for the summer, owner and director Mackenzie "Mack" Granger (Rachel Griffiths, "Six Feet Under") is running the camp for the first time on her own. With her ex-husband pressuring her to buy his shares of the camp, Mack scrambles to keep the cash-strapped camp afloat. She even contemplates a buyout offer from Roger Shepard (Rodger Corser, "Underbelly"), the sexy but arrogant owner of Ridgefield, the upscale resort across the lake. It's also the first year Mack's fifteen-year-old son Buzz (Charles Grounds, "Why Ryan Is on Detention") is a counselor in training (CIT), and he vows to make it a legendary summer. Buzz makes fast friends with Kip (Thom Green, "Dance Academy"), a fellow CIT who is hiding a secret. And Mack's trusty handy man Cole (Nikolai Nikolaeff, "Sea Patrol") may be developing more than a professional interest in the newly-single camp owner. Meanwhile, lead counselors Robbie Matthews (Tim Pocock, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine") and Sarah Brennen (Dena Kaplan, "Dance Academy") resume their annual summer romance. But their relationship is different this year as Sarah faces stress over the loss of her swimming scholarship and finds her thoughts wandering across the lake when a sexy older writer moves into Ridgefield. Lily Sullivan and Charlotte Nicdao also star.
10 episodes ordered. Looks interesting as a summer show. Set the DVR to check it out.

I kind of liked it. it was a fun hour and there were some laughs.
Lots of cute girls as well. I liked Rachel Griffiths as the lead.
Man, she is one horny camp director.
Funny thing to mention. I did a little research on this show. It takes place in Michigan, but was filmed in Australia. The entire cast, including all the young adults are Aussie actors. I'm sure most of you already knew that Rachel Griffiths is an Aussie.
If you want some comedy, you need to check out the Camp Facebook page.
Seriously, there are some ridiculous comments from outraged parents bitching about the mature themes, talks about sex, drugs and the word dick being used so much. Hello? It's a 10pm show. The middle American, religious nuts always have to start shit.

Reminded me of the recent show "Beaver Falls". A British camp show, shot in South Africa that takes place in the US… also with a character with an illness.

I enjoyed it and hope it makes a series run.
Reading all the FB posts makes me laugh. Some people need to just not own a TV anymore.

OMG, I just want to gouge my eyes out reading more of the ridiculous comments on the Camp FB page today.
Were these people seriously expecting some kind of Disney Channel family show at 10pm? Good God.

Hopefully NBC doesn't take trolls seriously. I doubt they do.
It amazes me that people even complain about TV shows. You dont like it, stop watching it. You likely have 500 more channels to watch. I saw the first episode of Siberia and did not like it. So I did not watch the second and do not plan on watching it at all. Simple as that.
I could never understand the people that continue to watch shit they hate and complain about every single week. Must be a mental issue.
I want this show to go on and I hope it has tons of sex and drug use. Maybe Rachel Griffiths' character will have a breakdown in the middle of the season and rail one up before screwing one of the campers ... preferably a female (Lily Sullivan)...

NBC's newest program, "Camp," could be misleading to parents with this title, but with a TV-14 DLS rating you can be assured this will not be for family viewing. The name of the show along with the age of the cast members will attract young viewers. The content in this program (and even in its commercials) is inappropriate for tweens and teens and will send the wrong message to America's youth. New episodes air on Wednesday evenings at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 CT.
Unacceptable content in the program included:
"This is a p*rn desert."
"Fifty Shades of Little Otter" (Little Otter is the name of camp)
Mom (camp director and owner) walks in on son m*sturbating
G*mbling add*cts
P-word used and one camper has g*nital h*rpes
S*xual innuendos
Politically Correct situations with a h*mosexual couple
(An asterisk is used to ensure our emails get through to those who have signed up to receive our alerts. Otherwise, referencing specific words would cause our emails to be blocked by some internet filters.)
NBC's newest show is irresponsible and tasteless. It is appalling that NBC intends to air a show that features immoral behavior in a positive light while attempting to draw in young viewers with the title and adolescent plot of the program.

And that "unacceptable content" makes it better than expectations and better than the average summer show (probably still not good enough to watch in-season. I'm pretty sure she means politically Incorrect, and her list is way behind. It is on at 10. Kids for whom it is "too adult" should be in bed, although they have had some repeats at 8 which might be questionable.

What's the forum thoughts on this show? Not many replies 7 episodes in.
I'm having fun with it. Funny moments mixed with serious moments.
I hope it does well enough to get a second season. Several likable characters for me.

Well there goes the first season. I really hope it comes back.
I found quite a few likable characters. A fun Summer show and if it comes back next Summer, I'm all in!

My Favorite new show of the last year. The characters were quirky and fun. The only flaw is that the plots were very predictable. The moment the Aunt started insulting Marina, I knew what the resolution was.
I also hope it comes back, but if it doesn't the resolution on the final episode was fine (albeit predictable).
P.S. Grace is adorable.

I liked it. Love Dena Kaplan and others from Dance Academy. Expected it to be canceled, though, as ratings weren't good, but was hoping since it was summer, they would keep it on.

Enjoyed it also, also expected it to be canned. It was a solid one off.
