IMO, this looks awful. A friend of mine saw it and said it was bloated and not fun.

149 minutes?! You can watch six episodes of the original TV series in that amount of time and your time would probably be better spent.

I am surprised no one has ever thought of making a movie about the Lone Ranger hunting down a werewolf.

Imagine if they had gone with a similar style to The Mask of Zorro or even True Grit.... how refreshing that would feel for audiences to see - a 2hr adventure/western with some fun and thrills. (at half the cost to the studio) What we have here seems like yet another theme park ride that ends up being an endurance test.

Certainly looks nice visually, and maybe it'll end up being fun... but it just doesn't look appealing at this point.

Edit: Thunder Mountain Railroad going to turn into a Lone Ranger ride now?

Two hundred and fifty million dollars! 250! What the fuck were they thinking when they sunk that kind of cash into this piece of stink?! How on earth can they justify that kind of risk. This looks like Wild Wild West all over again, only worse..

I don't know man. I sense bomb for this one, especially with the $250M budget which is fucking insane.

$250M ??!?! Where did it all go? Last I checked Depp is the only major name attached to this one, he's just Tonto.

Didn't Disney spend money developing the movie, then it got scrapped and re-developed? That's also money that probably went into the production costs.

Johnny Depp doesn't make good movies anymore. This looks like it will be no exception.

And Johnny Depp has been obsessed with Native Americans ever since he directed/starred in The Brave. It's weird.

I found the original story from 2011. Disney shut down production because the budget was ballooning. And this was before they even started filming.

It should have been called Tonto, since all of the advertising makes it look like he's the star.

I think when this comes out I'm going to stay home and watch this masterpiece instead:

Depp has descended into pure caricature at this point, and Verbinski and Burton are both guilty of indulging him. He needs a director who can challenge him again.

I honestly have hardly any interest in this. But I've got a free ticket, so I might end up catching it in theaters...

Depp hasn't made a great or even a really good movie in over 10 years.

You win by technicality.

Depp hasn't made a great or even really good live action film in more than 10 years.

I'm not sure if this is going to be Pirates of the Caribbean-moderately fun, or Wild Wild West-outright terrible.

I'm guessing the latter. Either way, this is going to be a mega-bomb.

Although nothing on the scale of Pacific Rim.

It'd be nice to save opening the review threads for a day or two before the film actually opens so it isn't filled up with people who haven't seen the movie telling us about the movie they haven't seen.

I barely remember Finding Neverland but do know I enjoyed it. And Sweeny Todd is good but not great.
