I know, I know.. another villain behind a villain, but it's somewhat interesting because now we see Michael doing what he normally would be doing as a deep cover operative.
And I liked the side story with Fi and Maddie. Clearly the women will be secondary for the rest of the show.

Yeah I really enjoyed this episode. I will say that this season has been kinda jarring because of the lack of the old sets, but I think the storytelling has been strong, and seeing Michael do what we've only heard about in the past has been pretty nice.

So now that we find out Michael is doing this job to keep them all out of the CIA holding center will Fiona come running back to him?

I think we all sort of assumed that was the case, but we never really had that information before. As much as I am tired of his mom, that scene at the end was pretty funny.

We caught up with a four ep marathon last night. Really like this direction. Glad everyone finally knows Mike is still alive and operating, and that Sam and Jessie are onboard with the Dominican Republic mission. And Maddie was awesome in her last scene!

Been loving everything so far except how they are writing Madeline this year! She is not this helpless and scared. She has helped on many jobs and can hold her own. Fi and Madeline setting up the bomb was classic though. Sam and his reaction to sniping the merc was very well done. Straight murder is not something the team ever really ever did unless they absolutely had to (Strickler, Card, Larry and a few people they've blown up).

Agreed. Fantastic episode but they're really dropping the ball with Madeline. Instead of forcing a lame plot, or making some lame decision we know she wouldn't make, she doesn't need to be in every episode.

The aforementioned complaints regarding the mishandling of Madeline notwithstanding, this season is exactly how I've longed for the show to have been years ago. Michael being a burned spy left as simply backstory and instead an espionage story arc with only limited tangential ties to Mike's past as a spy.
I actually hope they create a new show in the vein of this season but with the same cast of characters carried over. Just Mike and the team hired on (or forced as is the case in this season) to solve some major situation while also helping everyday folk in an unobtrusive B story.
