Movies which would make great TV shows...
Just a bit of fun chaps.
Was talking in my office and someone suggested that their favourite movie, The Breakfast Club, was one they'd love to see made into an edgier TV series, and this got us talking about what shows we'd like to see get made into a show.
Personally, i'd like to see
'Casino'
as an 'Hannibal'-style drama series about Vegas and gangsters.
'Major League'
As a 'Friday Night Lights' meets 'The League' style show about a team of baseball misfits
what about yours?

Watching the Warriors a 2nd time was painful so don't know how it would hold up as a series.
Scarface if he lived he could have fought different drug dealers and the government.

Memento - it would be a procedural. Every week Leonard thinks he's tracking down his wife's killer but he is instead doing personal favors for people he thought he could trust. He's essentially a hitman that forgets everything every 10 minutes.

I know they tried it in the late 80's on ABC, but I think Mission: Impossible could work again as a weekly action TV series. Put it on cable like TNT or USA.
Also don't laugh at me for suggesting this, but I also think Burlesque (the movie with Christina Aguilera) could make a decent weekly serial drama with music like Smash or Glee.
There was some talk last year that Lionsgate might be interested in adapting The Expendables as a weekly series. But nothing really materialized. I can't imagine they would want to do it while the film franchise is still a money maker.

Waterworld: set it after the movie, with the ocean levels falling and land starting to emerge but the Mariner still wandering from land to land. Could have potential.
Master & Commander: What the hell, there were 20 books.

A lot of films would make good ongoing series or mostly a mini or maxi series as you need more then a couple hours to tell the story yet not season after season, maybe not even an entire season. Same with some book series that could use a half season (based on 22 episodes) to tell their story. Not sure why that is not done more often, some stories do not need to go on for years.

I would like a TV series that jumps off of the first Matrix and pretends the second and third film never happened.
