Iffy on the director but the cast is cool. Well I only care about Elba and Bardem honestly. Penn doesn't visually look right to be next to the others.

Hmmm, I actually read the source novel years ago and enjoyed it. It's got a post-modern noir feel to it. That being said I don't know whether or not it can be adapted to my liking. There's a certain moodiness/existential angst to it that I'm not sure will be present if they are writing this as a modern Hollywood thriller/popcorn movie.
This is a good reminder that I have to reread the novel though.

I enjoyed Taken, Banlieue 13, and even the polarizing From Paris with Love. So I'm cool with Pierre Morel at the helm. The plot seems sparse but I liked Pete Travis' work with the equally sparsely plotted Dredd so I might just like this. I'm not a fan of Sean Penn, however. Always found him overrated. The other two cast members are great, though.

Comes out tomorrow. Getting crushed by critics. 19% on RT.
I have a readmittance pass to AMC and think I may use it on this. If it does turn out to suck, at least I can say I saw it for free.

Despite what the critics are saying I still think this looks cool. How often do we get Sean Penn in kick-ass Liam Neeson mode? I'm hoping if nothing else, it's turns ou to be goofy fun.

Is there any parkour in it?

I guess nobody went to see this--it bombed hard this weekend. $5M in 2,816 theaters.

Honestly I don't think it was advertised very well. I only saw one or two ads that made it look like a generic revenge movie. Plus Sean Penn does not scream action hero or tough guy so there is that.

Just got out of seeing it. I thought it was so-so at best. I'd give it a C. Some of the action was good, but I didn't really care for the plot. Just another tired African themed political storyline which has been done to death in the movies. For a guy who gets top billing, Idris Elba's part is super small. I would say he's in it no more than 15-20 minutes. I would say this is a rental at best.

Watched this on a plane ride. It was OK, not as bad as the reviews suggest. It held my attention, but the plot wasn't very exciting. The knife fight at the end was pretty badass.

Tried watching this last night and found it incredibly boring. Glad it was a rental, mad it was a $2 rental and that I didn't wait until it hit the $1 bin to get it.
