Twisted -- ABC Family Murder Mystery series -- Summer 2013

The premiere episode follows Danny Desai, a charismatic 16-year-old with a troubled past who returns to his hometown after spending five years in juvenile detention. Immediately branded an outcast, Danny attempts to reconnect with his two childhood best friends, Jo and Lacey, and to smooth over tensions with his mother, Karen. When a fellow high-school student is found dead in her home, Danny instantly becomes the prime suspect and the town spirals into a frenzy of suspicion and mystery.

So I caught the premiere of Twisted after Pretty Little Liars. It's a new murder mystery series. The preview of the Pilot aired back in March, but tonight was the official premiere. The most notable actress on this series is Denise Richards. She plays the mother of the boy who is the subject of the murder mystery. She was awful by the way.

Anyways, I thought the Pilot was just okay. It has an interesting set up. But I think the actors need to grow into these characters. The opening scene with Danny holding the jump rope after allegedly strangling his aunt didn't really have the dark vibe I was expecting. I didn't really like the actor who played Danny. He just didn't have the vibe of a mysterious bad boy who may or may not be the killer. He seemed kind of a douche to me. I think Grey Damon, who was also in the episode would have been better.

So Danny is also the prime suspect for the murder of that party girl he was flirting with as well.

I see why this show was paired with PLL since it has somewhat the same tone. I'll give it more time to grow. One thing that puzzled me was the viewer discretion advised disclaimer. Nothing in the episode was anymore disturbing than you could find in an episode of Pretty Little Liars.

This show needs to cast Peter Gallagher just to have more eyebrow action.
