LeBron James is your cover athlete

There is also a King James bonus pack for pre-ordering (whatever that is)

The game will be available for the 360, PS3 and eventually the Xbox One and PS4.

There will be no version for the Wii U.

The King James bonus pack includes exclusive content featuring LeBron. The current gen buyers will receive 10,000 virtual currency, extra content for the new Path to Greatness mode, a LeBron signature skill for My Player and LeBron in the blacktop mode.

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

So the next gen buyers won't get that, or are you saying that that's all that's confirmed for now?

May wait on this one (though I say that every year, but at least until the price drop/sale)

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

So anybody get this yet? Worth the upgrade?

Only way the whole leveling up system was even bearable was because of the "feature" of being able to get points from mind numbing quiz games on my phone... not sure I want to do that again.

I'm thinking about waiting for the next gen system releases, but then I remember the first Madden for the 360...

I asked for this for my birthday this week. Hopefully I will get it soon and be able to play some hours.

This reviewer gave it a 7.5, mostly because he's waiting to see how the next gen consoles version looks like.

That seems like an odd way of scoring a game.

Question, so how are you able to continue to play older versions of the 2K series once the servers are shut down? I recall trying to play 2K10 when the new version of the game came out and it kept locking up and freezing the Xbox. Do you just have to exit Xbox live to play it?

That's what I had to do. It sounds like we should also convert our my career players to offline. Not sure how to do that yet as I haven't looked into it.

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

I have concluded that the only reason I kept buying yearly updates of NBA 2k was to keep my 100% achievement streak in nba 2k going. That streak ended with the unannounced shut down of 2k12. I haven't even bothered trying to get the online achievements in 2k13. Also the lack of free time might play into it as well!

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

It's not the same game. There's a ton of new stuff. A few things off the top of my head:

New team (obviously the Pelicans)
PA announcer now says time remaining on the shot clock.
Different music.
Different presentation.
LeBron Greatness mode.
You can buy VC coins now.
You can use VC coins for one game power ups.
The default difficulty in My Career is All-Star. Pro has been removed.

The core part of My Career is the same so far but it's a lot of fun.

Is the lebron greatness mode basically my career but you're lebron james? I am guessing it's similar to that 2k12 mode where you got to be Jordan.

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

Some people said the Jordan mode is better. I haven't tried it yet.

One complaint I have about the laziness of the game designers is instead of having new voices for the GM's in My Career, they took the same voice and slowed it down or speeded it up to make it seem like its a new voice.

Also, the GM interaction stuff is mostly the same, but the choices are a little different. Oh and the GM will still call the Pelicans the Hornets.

Minor but annoying thing.

Did anybody pick this up for XB1 or PS4? If so, could they confirm if there is an online franchise mode? I can't tell from any of the reviews if the online league is just a single season or a franchise.

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

Just started My Career 2 days ago for the 360. I had a pretty good game in the Rookie showcase. Scored 18 points and hit a couple of 3's, but my team lost by 20. Was drafted 17th overall by the Hawks and is playing backup behind Jeff Teague. I'm only playing 5 minute quarters, but 1st game against the Mavs I had 3 assists in 6 minutes with no points.

If you swear at the refs, you'll get a technical foul in Career Mode.

They had this last year too (at least with the Kinect on the 360). They also had an ability to call timeouts through speech, which worked dubiously because of the quality of the kinect. I mean, there were times when I swear they thought I called a timeout because the kinect was listening to the sound of the game itself through my speakers.

Well, there was no mistaking what I said that deserved the technical foul. The PS3 version didn't have no such high-faluting features... that I knew about at least.

Yeah I turned off the Kinect for this game. I said crap once or goddamn after I missed a free throw and i got a T. Ended up losing by one.

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

Well I hope the 360/PS3 versions are complete because I've been playing the PS4 version and it seems like half a game, at least compared to past years. Plus after all that hubbub with the always online thing, I swear this game needs an online connection to even play a game on the next gen consoles. I can't even figure out how to run drills in my career... Did they take that out entirely? The menus are some of the worst I've ever seen as far as being able to find things.

It is beautiful, though.

Re: NBA 2K14 -- October 1, 2013

2k has really dropped the ball on this game (no pun intended) with the patches. They just released their third patch in the first month of the games release for Xbox One and it still didn't fix the crash to dashboard error.

This is just unacceptable. I can't get 15 seconds into My Career mode without crashing. It happens at the same time every time. It's not just me and it's not only affecting the Xbox One.

This is the buggiest game I've ever played in terms of having a literal game breaking glitch. I am trading in this piece of shit product.

It really sucks, too, because this was my favorite game.

Dropped the ball is an understatement. The online leagues mode is a fucking joke.
