Predator 2 vs. Predators

Let's put an end to this the two sequels of the Predator trilogy, a trilogy more dear to me than Alien AND Terminator and.... Robocop (lol), it all ENDS. Fucking....

P2
Pros:
Upkeeping the Predaverse and expanding it
Cool new Predatoys
The Hooker highrise scene
Similar music
New setting
Bill Paxton/Gary Busey together during their golden age

Cons:
Shit occurs for seemingly no reason
Predator turns into a pussy toward the end
Danny Glover?

Ps
Pros:
Interesting collection of commandos
The Pianist as lead was surprisingly OK as the lead proving you don't have to be a bulky dude to be cool

Cons:
Childish dialogue "you want to see something fucked up?" said by the chick no less.
Jungle retread
Morpheus sucks
No threat feel
Copying P1 too much

I guess whoever made P2 must have not really given a shit about Predator 1 while Robert "I'm going to honor Predator 1" Rodriguez ironically mezzedup.

There are no pros with Predators.

Damn, I thought this was going to be some sort of a sequel announcement.

Predator 2 is a hot mess. But at least it tried to bring a little something new to the table, unlike Predators which was a damn near shot for shot rehash.

Really? I enjoyed Predators. Sure, it wasn't as good as 1, but I rewatched Predator 2 recently, and it looks and feels like a made-for-TV movie.

Predator 2 by a mile.

Not saying 2 was a good movie per say, but Predators was dreadful.

Re: Predator 2 vs. Predators

I wanted to like Predators. But it lacked the sense of wonder. It just felt like another churned out project that someone had to make because some numbers were crunched and it someone wanted to have it made.

Predator 2 works for me because of it was ultra violent, and the urban warfare was cool to watch. A lot of the violence scared me when I was little. The movie was pretty hardcore.

Predator works because it's one of those classically directed action films. It's a tight little script. Arnie is in there. Everyone does what's right. The science fiction is very real and makes sense. And seeing the predator in action, on screen, when I was little, was a first-time experience.

Predators didn't bring anything new and fascinating. I don't know what the franchise could bring. I think it's dead. And was surprised when they started making it. It's only appeal was to see the Predators on the big screen again.

Yep. Aside from some cool shots, it was a weak effort all around. And Brody is nooooo substitute for Arnie. The shots of him trying so hard to evoke Dutch were laughably bad.

Rodriguez and Nimrod had a great opportunity handed to them and they blew it majorly.

Predators, but they're both shit. Predator 2 is such insipid, cliche-ridden tripe, I'm surprised people actually defend that thing.

The Predator scares an old couple watching Jeopardy! I don't know how you aren't seeing the value here.

Re: Predator 2 vs. Predators

The sad part is that the original Predator never had a decent sequel made for it.

Both Alien and Terminator had at least one decent sequel each, so why has making a decent Predator sequel been so difficult to do?

Neither one was very great but I suppose if I had to choose I'd say Predator 2.

Good point. We need James Cameron's "Predator [cool sounding sequel]"

Really? What do you expect from a Predator movie? If they had set it in the city again would you have conned it for that?

Re: Predator 2 vs. Predators

Predator 2 for sure. I saw Predators in theaters and liked it at first, but the more I reflected the more I realized it was nothing more than a muddled mess.

The first one still needs a proper BD that isn't DNR'd to shit.

So you would only want Predator movies set in Jungles.

Both were bad. Predator 2 was Ghostbusters 2 bad. Predators was Friday the 13th: A New Beginning bad.

Where else do you propose a movie about master hunters to be set?

I always wanted to see a Colonial Era Predator movie. However, they shouldn't have the stealth camo from the first two movies (or at least one that is nowhere near as effective) and a larger, less portable (no shoulder mounting) version of the plasma cannon.
