"Maron" - New Mark Maron IFC Series
Anybody going to check this out?
Maybe this could feel the void of no Louie this year.
Denis Leary is one of the producers.

Marc Maron has been a comedian for 25 years. He’s had his problems. He was an angry, drunk, self involved, twice divorced compulsive mess for most of his adult life, but with the popularity of a podcast he does in his garage and a life of sobriety, his life and career are turning around. MARON explores a fictionalized version of Marc’s life, his relationships, and his career, including his incredibly popular WTF podcast, which features conversations Marc conducts with celebrities and fellow comedians.

Nobody watched?
The first show was about internet trolls.
He looks like Hank Azaria but with glasses.

This show, while having some funny moments, is no Louie.
Louis CK manages to pull off the balancing act between funny, disturbing and heartfelt.
Mark Maron on the other hand comes off as guy who basically hates everything (except his cat), including himself. There's no heart, as it was ripped out by one of his ex wives, stomped on, crushed and made into the ink he uses to write out his alimony checks.
The funniest part of the first episode was Dave Foley. I loved that all he wanted to do was get stoned and grab a burrito.

Is it online? We don't have cable. Definitely want to check it out. Love his podcast!

It is hard for anything to be close to Louie but since there is nothing on with the TV season virtually over this is not bad.
It was funny the trolls liked Dave Foley but hated him.
I think they are available on hulu

Really enjoyed the Denis Leary episode - so much better than the Dave Foley one. Love Maron's podcast and I really want this to work out for him; so far, so good.

OK, last night's episode was pretty damn good. Easily the funniest episode yet. Plus seeing the boss from Workaholics as a Dominatrix was pretty hot.

Bobcat Goldthwait directed the Dominatrix episode.
Gina Gershon guest stars next week and Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Ken Jeong, Eric Stolz, and others in the following weeks.
Surprised more people are not watching it.

I'm not trying to threadcrap, and to be fair I haven't watched the show, but I have tried listening to Maron's podcast and seen some of his stand-up and talkshow appearances. Something about him always screams "Failed, angry comedian" to me. It's hard to get past. There's this thick layer of bitterness. And not the type that fuels great comedy.
That said, I'll try his show out and see if it changes my opinion.

I honestly thought this show was created just to advertise in between episodes of Arrested Development to make them seem even funnier.
I honestly have not seen one clip in a commercial that was even close to funny.

This isn't funny in a way that makes you laugh often..but I find it amusing. I know he's 'angry' and what not, but I find him really likeable on this show.. I could see how some people would hate it. Watched tonight's episode and loved it. Thought the podcast with the kid was great.

This show has turned into a pleasant surprise. I really don't listen to his podcast, but am liking him on the show. Sure there's some bitterness in his personality, but it's complimented with just enough humor and realism.
It's not a laugh-out-loud funny show, but amusing enough that I look forward to tuning in again week after week. Hopefully this gets picked up for another season.

It has regularly been a very funny show, so far. Think Curb Your Enthusiasm, but only focusing on Larry David's comedian life.

It is just hitting its stride now and getting better.
The 1 hr season finale is on tonight.
You know MASH Radar? Nothing?
Kyle the assistant should be brought back.

Yes! Thank you! It got better as the season progressed
http://www.tv.com/news/ifc-renews-ma...-137459752906/
IFC has ordered a second season of Maron, its new comedy starring comedian, "WTF" podcast host, and entertaining whiner Marc Maron. The show's sophomore season will debut in 2014, and expand from 10 episodes to 13 episodes.
Maron follows the acerbic Maron as he fumbles through the troubles of building a career out of spilling his critical view of the world into a microphone. He's got a rocky relationship with his dad (Judd Hirsch), a weird relationship with his new girlfriend (Nora Zehetner), and an oddly paternal relationship with his hapless assistant

Anyone watch the season 2 premiere?
Maron did a guest shot on Talking Dead and questioned Chris Hardwicks nerd credentials lol.

Re: Maron New Mark Maron IFC Series
I like Hardwick as a television host but he's not much of an actor. The episode was pretty funny but the internal politics of comedy/Hollywood have been mined pretty heavily by other shows.
I do think this is one of the more underrated comedies on at the moment.

I think it would make a good companion piece to Louie if it aired on FX.
