Your personal "Top 10" console games of this generation (360/PS3/Wii)

Since the "next gen" systems will all be out by the end of the year (Wii U is out now...), I thought it would be interesting to see how people summarize this generation with their favourite games.

You can do a top 10 for each system if you like, but I think that's too many. A top 10 of all three combined is far more interesting (to me, anyway).

Here are 10 titles that, in retrospect, I got the most enjoyment out of. Exclusive games indicated as such.

1. Fallout 3: GOTY Edition (w/ all expansions)
This game caught me off-guard. I fell in love from the moment I started it. The main story was compelling and I embraced the VATS system. I could have done without one of the expansions, though. I never had any game-killing glitches. Guess I was lucky.

2. Fallout New Vegas: Special Edition (w/ all expansions)
Very short main quest, but the side quests and expansions were all pretty solid. One of the very few games where I went back and tried to find as much as I possibly could. Still no game-killing glitches for me. Lucky again!

3. Deadly Premonition (360, although an "improved" version is now available on PS3)
Sinner's sandwich... Zack... FK in the coffee... invincible guitar... I will never forget this game.

4. Burnout Paradise
Maybe not the best in the franchise, but the only Burnout game released specifically for this generation. I loved just driving around, not to mention completing actual races and such. The latest NFS was good, but I didn't sink as much time into that one.

5. Orange Box (collection of awesome Valve titles, most importantly, Portal)
I think all of these titles were released elsewhere first, but whatever. I enjoyed revisiting HL2 and its episodes, but I bought this specifically to play Portal. Everyone should play Portal.

6. Portal 2
A tremendous sequel to a fantastic game. It may have been easier than the original, but the humor, storytelling, and overall atmosphere made this game near-perfect for me.

7. Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
I'm a sucker for simple side-scrolling Mario, and I could play it endlessly if I didn't have any responsibility in my life.

8. Alan Wake (360)
Like being in a Stephen King novel, and having no idea how it's going to end.

9. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Of all the CoD games, I spent the most time on this one. The campaign was short, but tense. Multiplayer was incredibly addictive. I likely would have played it twice as much if I didn't encounter so many boosters and cheaters.

10. Dead Island
Zombies on an island. Incredibly fun (for me), even if the weapon deterioration was frustrating. Some missions were genuinely challenging.

Honorable mention to: Uncharted series. I enjoyed 1 & 2 to a point, and have yet to play through the 3rd one, but I just didn't think they were good enough to make my personal top 10.
Honorable mention #2 to: Walking Dead, the Telltale game. So awesome... and probably would make my top 10... but it slipped my mind, and I'm not going to alter it now.

If there's already a thread like this, feel free to close this one. I didn't really search that hard.

No particular order (Came back and fixed the order):

1. Fable II (it's a shame 3 was kinda of a letdown)
2. Skyrim (over 100 hours and still not bored with the content)
3. Mafia II (the only current disc game where I've beat the main game and all of the DLC)
4. Rock Band 3 (finally a musical game where I really like the music available and not just singing or playing pop diddies)
5. Lego Harry Potter 1-4 (still the best Lego game to date in my opinion)
6. WWE '13 (Attitude Mode is fantastic and Universe Mode is basically running your own sim league)
7. Batman: Arkham Asylum (this game would have cracked probably the top 3 if I was playing more than just the action moments (my wife plays the puzzles, it's our way of doing co-op))
8. Bioshock (so amazing, I wish I was better at it)
9. Darkness 2 (still the best story I've seen in a Xbox 360 game)
10. XCOM: Enemy Unknown (completely faithful recreation of an awesome PC game)

Red Dead Redemption is the one I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet. It might be my #1, although I'll have to think it some more.

In alphabetical order:

Assassin's Creed 2
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Bioshock Infinite
Call of Duty 2
Left 4 Dead
Metroid Prime 3
Portal 2
Red Dead Redemption
Uncharted 2
The Walking Dead

I deliberately choose one game per franchise in instances where there were multiple great entries.

I wouldn't even put it in my top ten of all time. I'm not saying it's a bad game. It's good but I had more fun with San Andreas. S.A. had so much more fun things to do. 4 has maybe 5 side activities whereas S.A. had dozens of side activities. I'm about 10 hours in so maybe that will change later but right now it's not grabbing me.

Red Dead I never played but is on my to play this year list.

Re: Your personal "Top 10" console games of this generation (360/PS3/Wii)

Listing only series names for games of a series, except for certain cases detailed below:

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Borderlands - Borderlands 2 made this series for me, but I still need to put a ton of time in the 1st game
Burnout Paradise
Fable II / III - series Although III was not as good as II, it was still good.
Halo - series
Red Dead Redemption
Mass Effect 2 - liked Mass Effect, but the lack of an auto save and game freeze ruined the game. Have not played ME3 yet.
Rock Band - series (including Artist versions)
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
WWE - series

Honorable Mentions

Assassin's Creed - series - Love this series, but need to spend more time with it
Bioshock - Love this series as well, but have not finished 1 or Infinite, did not start 2 yet.
Civilization Revolution - got me into playing this series and game-type
Crackdown - good multiplayer
Dead Rising
Deus Ex
Far Cry 3 - Played a ton out of this one, but did not make the cut
InFamous - Series
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Just Cause 2
L.A. Noir
Mafia II
Max Payne 3
Mortal Kombat - series, but mainly the 2011 release
Need For Speed - series
Portal 2 - good multiplayer game, but was short - didn't replay it and friends moved on
Project Gotham Racing 4
Prototype - series
The Saboteur
Saints Row - series
Scene It - series
Star Wars: The Forced Unleashed - series
Transformers - Cybertron series

Not my kind of game, controls just never felt right to me. FWIW I also didn't like Oblivion or Skyrim, though they really aren't all that similar.

to the Tomb Raider nods, that game really impressed the hell out of me and I'll be pissed if Square Enix doesn't run with the newly built momentum.

Not discounting your list LMM, but you should step out of Nintendoland once in awhile, there are a ton of great games out there.

Oh and an addendum to my list... one I forgot, Okami (Wii). I think I'd bump Condemned to 11 for that one.
