I was hoping someone could possibly tell me if it is possible to use a y adapter and connect my car sub to my receiver? Or any other better way if possible.

Thanx

If you're talking about a Y adaptor from your receiver's sub pre-out (the one with RCA connections), no. Not without an external amplifier, anyway.

If you're talking about using your receiver's speaker output connections, then, as long as you don't hook up both channels into the same sub (thereby bridging your amplifier stage) it'll be ok. DO NOT try to bridge a receiver. They're not built to handle it. You will blow the amplifier stage.

If your car sub is self powered, then it will run off 12V DC power. If you have an AC/DC invertor, then you can hook it up to convert your home's AC current to DC.

Long winded, I know, but i hope that helps!

Ok, so you're saying I can hook it up to say a rear channel and it'll act as that speaker, but I can't hook it up to the LFE or sub-out. Does the sub-out not amplify?

BTW thanx for the help.

No the LFE/sub out does not amplify it is just a pre out that is crossed over, like a active external crossover in a car.

You would need to get an amp to drive the sub, unless the sub is amplified like a Bazooka tube, then you would just need a DC to AC converter to drive it.

As long as you have a passive crossover on the sub, yes. Otherwise, you'll be sending a full range signal to the sub. It won't damage anything, but you're going to get annoyed with all of the mid-bass info going to the sub that shouldn't be.
