Star Trek: The Next Generation - Favorite Character?
This is pretty straightforward; just tell everyone who and why. Please be civil and courteous as well. Thanks!

Toss-up between Picard and Data, but I'll go with the latter. Both were well-rounded, interesting characters played perfectly and I doubt the series could've survived without them both.
Not sure why Yar is part of the poll, though. Dr. Pulaski (and maybe even Q) were in more episodes than she was.

50/50 split between Picard and Geordi. Burton and Stewart both kick ass and I'll watch anything they're in.

Data leads the league in times saving the Enterprise/universe, was generally the comic relief (he named his cat Spot!), and on average Data-centric eps were better than other character-centric eps (Troi the worst of course). In 7 seasons they did everything they could with Picard, but with Data there was always more places to take the character. In the finale the 2 most smile inducing parts are seeing young Data and old Data. If you could hang out with one of the characters of course you'd choose Data - even in the show everyone would be thrilled to meet Data.

I have a soft spot for Geordi LaForge. LeVar Burton was criminally underused in this series (he's an Emmy winning actor for chrissakes). But, he made Geordi very appealing with his unique and compelling delivery. Maybe it's me but he could still be facially expressive despite the girl's hair barrette covering his eyes for seven years. Also Geordi had the best one-liners of TNG bar none.
I think season 3's "The Enemy" was his best episode.

I always figured it sucked to be Troi. She'd always have to think to keep some barrier up or she'd feel every emotion on the ship. If she can sense feelings of someone miles away on another ship, she'd be able to feel every emoition on the Enterprise.

This tidbit comes from the S3 Bluray pak: Stewart never stopped complaining to the writers that he wanted Picard to be more like Kirk. He grew a rep for saying "More shooting and screwing! More shooting and screwing!"

Worf's one liners were superior IMO.
