This has a lot of potential. Bob Newhart is always entertaining.

Newhart hasn't aged in decades. No Amy and she wasn't missed. Penny was too dumb for my liking in this episode.

Ya, they pushed the dumbness bit a little too much. After years of being in the company of 6 geniuses, she gets excited about a potato clock?

Bob Newhart was terrific. His comic timing and delivery is still hilarious.

Funny bit with Howard getting excited at Bernadette doing Raj's voice.

I think i'm too young to know anything about Bob Newhart. I didn't care for the episode much at all, except the Raj accent bit noted above.

I enjoyed Newhart but his slow delivery really threw off the normal pace of the show.

Making Penny that dumb was a little off-putting but it did open up a lot of jokes.

I wonder how long before Howard and Bernadette have a baby.

Overall a funny episode, and it had some genuinely touching moments.

Newhart didnt impress me too much. His timing was verrrry slow like SpanishTechno said and I noticed he stuttered a lot. Not sure if both were purposely or what. Either way I think they couldve done better with him.

Yes they were done purposely. That's how he's always performed.

But of course the majority of the audience of BBT woulldn't know what to think of Newhart. They just see their grandfathers and don't quite get the humor of 30 years ago. They didn't have Newhart's shows in syndication for their childhood.

Yeah, that's his act. I've seen him on various shows and performances since the 70's and it's pretty much the same. I think of him as kind of a comic genius.

In the series finale, Professor Proton is going to wake up and realize this was all a big wet dream about Penny.

I didn't know that was Bob Newhart until this morning. I'm bad. I knew who Bon Newhart was though, even if I've never seen him before. The REALLY played up the Penny as a dumb blonde routine in this episode, you'd think she'd have shown some sort of intellectually growth. I do wonder what she and Leonard talk about. B plot was kind of OK. It was nice that they actually humanized Sheldon this week, he was less of an asshole and actually sympathetic. Somewhat.

Didn't mind the stuff with Penny. I was familiar with Newhart's delivery before this show, but I still found it to be annoying/too slow, especially when you could predict his response (like a simple "thank you"). I missed Amy, and I hate what they've done to Raj this season.

Disappointing. My expectations were high because of Bob Newhart, but it all fell flat for me.

Very few laughs in this one for me. Thought it was cute having Penny be that dumb but it was a stretch when she suggested the potato for his heart.

Re: The Big Bang Theory - "The Proton Resurgence" - 5/2/13

I agreed about Newhart's delivery being slow. His stammered delivery of lines was good, but he seemed to take a couple extra seconds to get his lines off in the first place.

Penny has been looking more attractive lately. Not sure what she's doing, but it's a good thing.

I loved that Leonard slapped Sheldon - even if it was off-screen. Not only did Leonard feel good after doing it, I think the live audience and people watching at home all over the world felt better as well.

His character has had 10% the evolution the others have, and now it's really starting to drag things down when they make him a focus.

Agreed. But as good as it was, it will feel nowhere near as good as when someone hits Raj.

Not a hilarious episode, but there were some moments, although I also thought Penny regressed a bit too much for this episode. I guess they're less worried about continuity than the laughs.

He needs to go somewhere away from the rest of the characters and appear only via webcam.

It seems to me the sweetner laugh track has been tweaked a little too much lately. I find it a distraction.

Penny doesnt know science, and has not taken any classes. I dont see why being in the company of scientists would make her smarter.

It's not like they spend all their time doing grade school experiments. All the science talk is high end gobbledygook. (wow, my spell checker liked gobbledygook!)

I approve of Kaley Cuoco's decision to upgrade her implants.
