Re: Seriously, why do people like Radiohead?
I like a couple of songs and one of them is Creep, but I can't name anything else. That's also why I've never cared to listen to Muse. People kept saying that they were the second coming of Radiohead, which made me say no thanks.
I don't care for Green Day either.

I think there's a rather large contingent of Radiohead fans who don't really like their music but think it's hip to act like they do. Especially their experimental stuff.

The Bends and Kid A are genuinely exceptional albums. OK Computer and In Rainbows are both good, but OK Computer is perhaps the most overrated album of the last 20 years.

They have 4 amazing albums in The Bends, OK Computer (don't be silly Suprmallet), Kid A and In Rainbows.
The rest of their albums are pretty damn good.
They are jaw droppingly amazing live.
This thread serves no puropose other than to draw in the people who don't like their music and consider them pretentious, overrated, hipster-ish, etc. I'm okay with all of those opinions, but this is obviously a joke thread not designed for serious discussion.

Well yeah, but I was mostly hoping to get real opinions from "real" rH fans. I admit that I don't think they're that special, but maybe it's because I bought OK Computer, only to lend it to someone a week later and I never got it back (and never replaced it).

I really, really tried to listen to OK Computer, but just couldn't get anything out of it. I used to refer to it as an album recorded by a band that had listened to Wish You Were Here too often, but now that I'm getting into Pink Floyd more, I have too much respect for WYWH to say that again.

I loved The Bends & OK Computer. Enjoyed Kid A right after that, but I don't really care for anything since then.

I've never been able to get into them. Yeah, they're a good band but I don't care for them too much. When I listened to all their stuff, Kid A was my favorite.

Yorke comes to local dives every once and a while to spin. I've heard that his DJ stuff is pretty good. He'll play dives like The Echoplex in Echo Park and joints over in Highland Park on occasion.

I like them for the most part. Kid A and In Rainbows are incredible. I like OK Computer but don't get the big deal about like it's the best album of the last 15 years or something. They make good music, their creative and like to change up their style a lot which I don't mind.

I love The Bends and In Rainbows. After that, I'd go with Ok Computer, Pablo Honey and then Kid A. Everything else, I like the occasional song or three here or there, but as whole albums, they don't do a lot for me.
King Of Limbs I thought was a big step backwards after In Rainbows.
I would agree that Ok Computer is overrated, though. However, at the time, it was very influential. Can't remember how albums I heard after it that tried to imitate that sound/style of it.
Kid A is good, but I've found it more a generational album as far as it's popularity goes. Seems with most of the folks I know personally, or have talked with, it's the ones who are much younger than me who absolutely adore Kid A, or prefer it over The Bends or Ok Computer. I think it may be because it was more their introductory album to Radiohead.

Re: Seriously, why do people like Radiohead?
the bends is in my top 10 fav cds of the 90's. i remember i did like pablo honey at one point but its been so long since ive heard it, i have no clue what i would think of it now. ok computer had a few good songs and ive pretty much hated everything after that cd.

The Bends is a truly great album. They went off the bend after that, delving too far into electronic textures. One man's experimentation is another man's noise. Radiohead is definitely one of the most overrated bands in Rock history by critics, simply because I think their generation desperately wanted a hip band after the end of Nirvana and Rap displacing Rock on the Pop charts. If Radiohead came around 20 years earlier, they would be much more of a cult band today.

Not a fan but I respect them as musicians but I prefer U2.
Please don't throw rocks at me!
Most of their songs don't have melodies.
