Lucy (2014, Besson) S: Johansson
Scarlett Johansson to Star in Luc Besson's Latest Action Movie (Exclusive)
Luc Besson, the French director with a penchant for putting women front and center in his action movies, has found his next leading lady.
Scarlett Johansson is in final negotiations to star in Besson's latest helming effort, the action-thriller Lucy. Universal has taken worldwide distribution rights with the exception of France, Benelux and China.
Besson wrote the script for Lucy, which centers on a woman forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can't feel pain and other discomforts.

Didn't Besson say he was going to retire?

Wow, that premise sounds like a stupid comic book origin. Still, could be fun. Is he just writing and producing or is he actually directing this one? I'd love to see ScarJo do some Corey Yuen Kung-Fu or something, that would be fun.

If Besson is directing, he'll make the crazy ass premise work so well. His protégés are iffy. But goddamnit do we need Besson back into doing action. And looks like this is his film.

This sounds so incredibly stupid but insanely fun if done just right. If Besson is directing, I'm watching.

Besson is a mixed bag for me. He's behind some awesome stuff (Leon, Taken), but he's also behind some terrible shit (The Fifth Element, Taken 2).

Sounds a lot like the premise for Cloak and Dagger.
My prediction: Lucy gets her powers. Lucy finds herself with a family or someone about whom she cares and cares for her in return. The bad guys locate her and she must engage in some ass kicking to defeat them but ultimately must leave those whom she cares about to deliver them from danger. I am also sure at some point Lucy will lose her powers and have to rely on her wits to get out of a tough situation.

The only Cloak and Dagger I know was a movie about a little boy and his imaginary friend (played by Dabney Coleman, as I recall) who was the main character of an Atari video game. It was nothing at all like the premise in the OP.

I meant the comic, and only in the premise that a drug gives her the powers.

of the films Besson has directed. I loved Leon. And didn't care much for The Fifth Element. Is there anything else worth checking out?
