How I Met Your Mother - "Time Travelers" - 3/25/13

Ted and Barney's future versions attempt to persuade present day Ted to go see Robots Versus Wrestlers. Marshall and Robin have a dance-off.

So they aren't going to jerk us around are they? They can't make a declaration like that and not follow through "in 45 days". Can they? CAN THEY?!?

This episode sucked. And is reminded me of the 30 Rock when Jack met future Jack and past Jack which was funnier in execution.

I thought it was a fantastic episode. Maybe the best in a couple of seasons.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - "Time Travelers" - 3/25/13

Did it feel like the mother is dead at the time future Ted is talking to his kids? Why else would he look back and wish he had 45 more days with this woman who is currently somewhere in that house and has an undetermined amount of future with? How HIMYM would it be to be after they wrote themselves into blowing the ending to the series that only they seemed to want (meeting the mother) with not knowing whether they were going to do another season, and the new finale is going to be the mother dieing in childbirth or something to that effect.

I'll have to find the interview but evidently Ted meets the mother and the final season veers in a tangent with the mom appearing in all or nearly all episodes.

I was hoping the coat check girl was going to be it... that would have been a great capper.

Yeah I was wondering initially since it was actually a (sort of) known actress. But alas...

He allegedly initially meets the mother at that bus/train stop, right?

I understood it to mean he loved her so much that he wanted those 45 days leading up to meeting her too. He wished he had met her sooner because of how lonely he was before he met her.

Well they've been pretty good with the dates in the show AND 42 days from last night would be 5/13 (7 weeks) which IS the 24th episode/season finale ("Something New?").

This episode was pretty good. I don't know why, but Robin writing all that stuff in the ladies' room was hilarious to me.

Yeah, this show take care of that kind of details. So we should meet the mom at the season finale for sure.
It will be interesting to see what they do in the last season.

Me too. Thought it was great. The whole episode seemed weird to me but I thought they did good at pulling a surprise ending to it. I thought the Marshall/Robin/Lilly stuff was rather weak though. The future Ted's/Barney's was funny.

I had a prediction for the season finale and I think it'll hold true. The season will end with Ted meeting the mother but the audience won't actually meet her until the start of next season. Pretty cliche sitcom cliffhanger move.

Oh I loved the final scene. And it seemed like they had fun filming it too.

Goat3001, if they get a known actress to play the mom, yeah that may be the case. Unless she agrees to do only one scene this season.

I paused the episode so I could read the middle part of what Robin wrote on the wall. Pretty funny.

Oh and, "I'm Robin-freakin-Sparkles, bitch."

Yeah, I paused it a few times to make sure I read it all.

I totally sympathized with Ted this episode (friends all having moved on)

Fantastic ending! Really felt the emotion in that last scene. I like that the main storyline about the mother is showing some progress.

Wow, two great episodes in a row. Couldn't be because they are actually moving the show forward, could it?

Love future Ted's psych out of still being alone. The Marshall/Robin stuff was great.

The only thing that bothered me was the laugh track during all the future character stuff. It was funny, but it's clear there was no audience for that.

There actually never is a live audience from my understanding... The film the episode and then play it back for an audience. This is due to the format of the show with flashbacks and such.

Yeah, with all the flashbacks, flashforwards and fakeouts, this show would be a nightmare to perform before an audience. This majority of this episode featured multiple Teds and Barneys; no way to perform that live.

He sees her at the wedding playing bass in the band, but yeah, as far as we know the train station is the first time they talk.

They missed out on a golden opportunity here.

They should have had future Ted played by Bob Saget.

I was going to say that, but I thought him being on the Robin Sparkles Behind The Music would break the space time continuum.
