Duck Tales Remastered! (XBLA, PSN, WII U) - Summer 2013

I want it now!

In today's "unexpected, f*cking awesome" news, Capcom has announced DuckTales Remastered for PlayStation Network, Wii U eShop, and Xbox Live Arcade. WayForward is handling development with a targeted summer release and $15 price point.

The debut trailer, embedded above, shows the new 2D hand-drawn sprites against a 3D backdrop. The game will feature original Disney voice actors in addition to a new tutorial level and Scrooge McDuck's Museum, which naturally acts as a hub for stat tracking and leaderboards.

There have been what-if DuckTales discussions for years and years. To hear that it's finally happening is incredibly exciting and has me wondering what other properties Capcom might be willing to bring back. Is this real life?

If the mechanics are faithful to the original I'll pick it up. The soundtrack alone for the moon level...

I'm pretty sure I'll buy this, play it once for about 10 minutes, and never again. I'll probably still buy it...

They need to do Rescue Rangers next.

If the play control is faithful, yes, I will have this.

Remember how in the Rescue Rangers game you could pick up the other player and hurdle them to their death?! Classic!

DuckTales was one of my favorite games as a kid and I had it both on Game Boy and NES.

Bring it.

Personally I wish they would include the original ROM in it somehow.

While nothing has been locked in, Jimenez said that the work Capcom put into getting approval from Disney to remaster the game could lead to future remastered releases of other classic Capcom-Disney projects. Those games include classics like Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck and Aladdin.

All of that will be dictated by how well this game is received though, Jimenez stressed.

What game would be next if Capcom were to do a second remastered release from their Disney days?

"In a purely hypothetical world," Jimenez said, "I think Chip n' Dale would be the next logical one. It makes sense because it's the next in the hierarchy."

Re: Duck Tales Remastered! (XBLA, PSN, WII U) - Summer 2013

DuckTales was actually the first game I ever beat, so it's always been special to me. I played the hell out of that game.

WayForward has become one of my favorite developers. Looking on Wikipedia, I'll be buying Mighty Switch Force 2, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, and Shantae Wii U.

I didn't realize this game had such a following. I remember playing it and I think I liked it, but I didn't just love it like some people apparently did. Maybe I need to play this (or the original again).

Can this get any better, fumanstan? Yes it can, other fumanstan.

I know the original news mentioned the voice actors, but its cool to confirm everyone coming back.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...-the-show.aspx

Capcom took fan questions on its online message board and confirmed that the show's original voice actors have returned to work on the game.

The confirmation comes from Capcom's corporate officer/senior vice-president Christian Svensson who said, "We have ALL the original voice actors from the show. Scrooge's voice actor [Alan Young] is now 94 years old but he still came into the studio and did his thing like a pro. The voice work really adds a lot to the package."

Wait, so they got all the original voice actors back but couldn't use the original theme song? Odd.

Fuckin' A!

That and The Lion King were some of the more memorable experiences I had on the Genesis and SNES.

I was going to say I never played the game, but watching that video, I think I might have.

Regardless, I was a huge fan of the cartoon and still am a huge fan of the classic Carl Barks comics that the cartoon was based on, so I'm definitely picking this up.

Maybe if this does well we'll finally see the final season released on DVD.

I loved Aladdin on the Genesis, but that game was made by Virgin. Capcom released a different, easier Aladdin game for the SNES that I didn't like as much.

Is this actually a good game? I just assumed that it would be crap like 99% of other tie-in games.

Duck Tales was done by the key people from Mega Man. It shows... the play control is excellent, the levels are challenging but fun, and the soundtrack is catchy. It is the best Disney game of that era.

Chip 'n Dale was pretty good, and Darkwing Duck also decent. I'd like to see those redone as well if this one turns out OK. The Mickey games on Genesis (Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion, also done by Capcom) were pretty good, too.

Of the ones I've played, the only truly bad Disney game Capcom put out was Adventures in the Magic Kingdom, although I've never played The Little Mermaid or DuckTales 2.

I'm definitely getting this. I wonder if the Wii U version is going to have any special controls for the game pad.
