The LOVE BOAT - best episodes with the BEST GUEST STARS?
I don't think there was ever a show that had the nation's top stars of film and television appear as guest stars week after week like this one did.
What were some of the best episodes?

I was too young for Love Boat and was unable to appreciate the high caliber of stars like Charo.

Re: The LOVE BOAT - best episodes with the BEST GUEST STARS?
Love Boat and Fantasy Island were perfect partners on a Saturday night.
I grew up watching both. I really loved seeing stars of my favorite 70s shows appear out of their normal character, and it was also my first introduction to many older actors who had fallen out of the spotlight.
It had laughs, serious moments, tame sex, silliness, sometimes intrigue, and loads of famous faces. It fit every age, so the whole family could watch. That's why it ran a dozen years or so.
Some of my favorites:
Don Adams tries to kill his wife Florence Henderson, but has a (of course!) change of heart and they live happily ever after.
Harold Gould, Larry Storch, Karen Valentine, & John Schuck play jewel thieves who try to break into the ship's vault.
John Ritter dresses as a woman to share a cabin with another woman, and he ends up falling in love with her, and they live happily ever after.
Don Knotts is a shoe salesman who looks like a famous TV star and gets chased by Julie Newmar, he finally reveals who he is and they live happily ever after.
Most of the plots ended that way, "happily ever after".
