I love this show and I am in love with the Russian spy being forced to work with the FBI. Another terrific episode.

Loved the episode, but I wish he didn't lie. I get it, but I was really hoping they could get that fresh start.

I'm not sure why, but I wish the agent wouldn't have went to the hotel w/the Russian spy babe. "Did she have you for breakfast?" Wonder if that will come back to haunt him...

And yeah, was there a kid? I kind of think there was, but I guess I liked the ambiguity.

That was my only small problem with this episode is I wish he had just told her the truth. The marriage is already a sham anyway.

Great episode. I love Claudia's line 'Better luck next time'. So full of attitude.

'Did she have you for breakfast?'

Given that Philip and Elizabeth are pissed off at the KGB higher-ups, it would seem that they would be under more scrutiny and not be given any critical assignments for a while.

I think there was a kid, and he will come into the picture later down the road where he will have to face off with his dad who is trying to defect.

Re: The Americans -- Duty and Honor -- 3/13/13

Are any of you married? I stand up and applauded Phillip. You never tell the whole truth to a woman. She may have had sex with dozens of men, but if Phillip admits that he had sex with his old flame, she would bring that all the time. You can't be 100% rational with a woman. Period.

Also, I may not be paying enough attention but, are those Elizabeth and Phillip kids? Or do they adopt them, the KGB granted them so they could work more easily in their assignment?

Maybe this line was from the previews, so I putting in spoilers:
Spoiler:

The old lady said to Elizabeth, remember that he's only your assignment, he's not really your husband, or something like that. If the KGB thinks like that, I would think that they wouldn't want them to have kids.

I thought it was a fact they were their kids. But somehow I'm questioning that now.

I have no reason to believe they are not their kids. Plus a married couple for over a decade in the DC burbs w/o kids in the early 80s would just look weird. They need to look as normal as possible to blend in.

The only thing I found weird and funny in this episode was the FBI agent's teenage son whining about his father never being home for dinner.

Yep, I got punched in the arm when I voiced my support for Philip's lie. If my "wife" was like Elizabeth I would be too scared to risk pissing her off.

Normally I would agree with you but for this show and the way the marriage is setup and they are so open about things, Phillips keeps this from Elizabeth. Also the way he hung up on her. I was a little shocked actually when he told her he didn't do it. I was just expecting him to casually say 'yes I did'.

Philip finally got his bitch of a fake wife to open up and be wife-like... No way he fucks it up by telling the truth.

Not to mention his previous assignment never had him home, period.

As for the kids - they have yet to say anything concerning the kids and their "origin". I would guess that they have had the kids since birth, but the question is whether they are actually their biological kids, or adopted, or brought in from russia, or whatever.

Liked hearing "Siamese Twins" at the end (although the album didn't come out until 1982).

Speaking of, what year is it? They made it clear that it was 1981 at the beginning, and Hinkley shooting Reagan was a plot line 2-3 episodes in. But they keep mentioning parts of the Strategic Defense Initiative, which didn't happen until 1983.
