Do you plan on buying the next Xbox or PlayStation 4? (Pre E3 Edition)
If rumors of used game activation codes and mandatory, always-on Kinect are to be believed, gamers might have a bitter pill to swallow if they want to stay current.

Right now, it's probably the next Xbox only. PS4 doesn't really appeal to me, since I've played a grand total of 5 games on my PS3 since I got it years ago.

I'm pretty open minded and voted "not sure", but if PSN remains free and PS4 is still a solid BRD player, I'll probably go that way.
Either way, I'll probably be a year 2 or greater adopter.

Not sure yet, I'm sure i'll get at least one of the Sony or Microsoft offerings, but its too early to tell when/which right now since we don't know so many details still.

I'll definitely get one, and probably both eventually. Right now I'm leaning towards the Xbox. I use the 360 much more than the PS3. And I wasn't impressed by the PS4 announcement. But it'll come down to price/value and the games/features that are available.

Right now, I am deeply not sure. I am unfortunately leaning towards staying with my 360 until the lights go out so to speak. It will all depend on used games and backwards compatibility (which includes XBLA and DLC). I dunno, I am a little concerned that for the first time ever there will be a generation where none of the systems interest me. But I have a shitload of games so at worst case scenario, I keep playing them regardless of what happens to entice me to a buy a new console.

Definitely not at launch. I'll give it at least a year or 2 to see how it shakes out. As it stands, my backlog is big enough to keep me busy for several years.

If they neither go the anti-used route, I'll get a 720 on release and a ps4 a year or two later. Otherwise I'll pick up a wiiu when the bad news breaks (and a ps4 a year or two later if only Microsoft goes down that road).

Maybe both but for sure the next Xbox...just don't know when. I didn't get the 360 till 10 months after it was released. I got it for Gears and Halo.

The PS4 announcement was underwhelming. I'll see what the Xbox is offering, and go from there. A lot of it will depend on launch games.

Neither. I have a Wii U and a gaming PC that can run the current games on the highest settings. I should be good for a few years. I just hope Watch Dogs and GTA V come out on PC.

Too early for this poll. Need to know pricing, more details, etc.
Last gen I waited a year for both systems and I'll probably do the same again. Think back to the 360 launch : Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo, King Kong, Call of Duty 2. Really there was nothing that was really "Can't miss" in that initial line-up. I don't see myself waiting for a redesign or significant price drop, but waiting a year? I can probably do that.

Agreed. I'll vote when we know more.
As it stands currently, it's Xbox day 1, PS4 probably never given the amount of use my PS3 has seen this gen. I could very well change my mind on Xbox, though, if they get too anti-consumer with used games, marketplace purchases carrying over, etc.

I definitely won't buy any Microsoft console within the first 18 months after the 360 RRoD debacle.
The PS4 will have to have some kind of awesome launch titles for me to get it right away. I love the PS3 but I don't need another system that can't play the previous gen's games.

Probably eventually but not right off, I don't play my consoles all that much, but sooner or later there will probably be something I really want and then I'll jump in.

Right now, I kinda doubt it. I've really moved to PC gaming, and I think I'll stick with that. I can play many of the third-party games on the PC anyway. I don't see much point in spending $400+ on a console just to play some first-party games that aren't all that different from what can be had from third parties.
I'll probably get one of the controllers though. I've always felt that console controllers are better than PC-specific controllers like Logitech, Saitek, etc. The 360 controller is the standard for the PC, and I imagine the next one will follow suit.
If I get a console at all, it may actually be the Wii U for Nintendo's games. I never had a Wii, so it would give me the ability to get some games from 2 generations.

I'm leaning towards the PS4 but I am not sure if I will be an early adopter. I'll need more information as far as pricing goes. I understand that since the cell was so different from any other architecture that Backwards Compatibility would be almost impossible and that will keep me gaming with my PS3 for a while. Microsoft would have to blow me away in order to get my dollars after the whole RROD fiasco. Backwards Compatibility on their part might help them.

I'll probably end up with both for no logical reason, but I mostly think the new Xbox. While the 360 had it's problems during its initial years, Microsoft handled the issues pretty well (for me) so I'm not overly concerned (free being much better than what Sony wanted for a YLOD)
If Sony would move their damn analog sticks it'd be a much closer competition.
