Re: 9 extra's who completely ruined their scenes
There is a scene in the original Blob where scared extras are running out of the movie theater. One of the extras, a big guy with a pink shirt, has a smile on his face and touches the ass of the policeman.

I was at the big shoot at the World Trade Center for the final scene of KING KONG (1976), in which the filmmakers invited crowds to show up for it. I even took pix of myself with the big Kong dummy lying on the ground, before the security crew kicked me out of that area. When I saw the film later that year, in the final shot, as the camera pulls back from Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange and we see the giant Kong corpse splayed out and the crowds around it, there's a young woman perched on a guy's shoulders waving furiously at the receding camera.

These are great. The North By Northwest one is well known by Hitchcock fans. I like the writer's theory that Hitch left it in the movie on purpose.

The one from "Jaws" would seem to be deliberate. If the delivery of that line wasn't what Spielberg wanted, he could have overdubbed it in post easily.
The Goodfellas one is sort of odd. I would think they would have given that man a newspaper to look at or something since he's going to be getting so much screen time behind DeNiro.

Also a goof from JAWS:
At about 3:42 in this clip, right when Alex gets chomped for the first time, an elderly couple says: "Did you see that?"
Look right above Alex's mother.
There's a girl in a bikini who sits up to look at the water - BUT - she looks back at camera.

In a movie that hasn't even been released yet (Star Trek: Into Darkness) there's already been an extra screwing things up.

It's always nice to hear "Extra" moments in audio commentaries too. Love hearing Linklatter rag on the "Dipshit Extra" in Dazed & Confused.
And on Knightriders, there was a conversation that went like:
Amplas-"This guy is the worst extra ever"
Savini-"Which guy?"
Amplas-"That guy in the red shirt"
Savini-"I know that guy"
Amplas-"Oh..Sorry"

Scratching my head over the Goodfella's one. That guy seems to be acting exactly how I would expect a guy eating alone in a diner to act. I imagine that is exactly what I look like when eating alone somewhere.

Yeah, me too. I see no real problem with what he's doing in that scene.

Agreed. I didn't notice anything unusual either. I'm sure I didn't pay any attention to that guy whenever I saw GOODFELLAS. Same with the rest of the scenes chosen. I watched the clips in that first link first without reading what the blogger said about them and I didn't notice anything unusual. And, of those I saw previously, I didn't notice any of the extras' behavior when I saw those films. This is really stretching.

The scene near the end of Enter the Dragon where Bruce Lee does a lightning quick triple side kick to one of the bad guys face. After the guy falls one of the extras in the background is laughing. For me it doesn't ruin the scene; it actually makes it hilarious.

In the theatrical cut of The Phantom Menace, there were some distracting extras in the senate scene. When Amidala calls for the no confidence vote, a couple in one of the pods start waving their arms in front of them in protest. It was really overdone and looked as if they were trying to flag down a car. Of course, Lucas digitally replaced them in the DVD version.

It's been a REALLY long time since I listened to it, but in the commentary for Gladiator, didn't Ridley Scott complain about one or more of the extras in the crowd? I'm not even sure that was the movie, actually.
