Favorite generation of video game consoles?
What is your favorite video game console generation?
Overall I think that my favorite generation of video game consoles is the fifth generation (N64, PS and Saturn), mostly because that's when 3D gameplay really became possible on home systems. While later generations have more refined 3D games, some of my favorite video game memories, such as the first time I played Super Mario 64, came from the fifth generation of systems.
What about you?

Well the 5th gen is the only one where I have two consoles, and GoldenEye was one of my favorite games ever, so I'll say that one. 3rd and 4th will always have a special place I my heart, but the 7th is actually way up there too I think, especially when you consider just how much these consoles can do.

Sorry for the confusion regarding the different console generations. Here is a list of the different console generations.

- Seventh (360, PS3, and Wii).
- Fourth (SNES and Genesis).
- Sixth (Xbox and PS2).
- Third (NES).
- Fifth (PS1 and the underrated N64).
- Eighth (the Wii U has no content other than a Mario game).
I wasn't alive for the first and second generations.

Seventh generation. Got me back into gaming regularly and the social aspect, more specifically co-op, has really made for some fun experiences.

Re: Favorite generation of video game consoles?
For me it's a tie between 4th and 5th generation.
I have the Super Nintendo and PSOne game consoles, play both equally although I've been playing The 7th Saga and Zelda: A Link to the Past quite a bit lately, also Secret of Evermore. I mostly play Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Trigger on the PSOne. Had a chance to play a little Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 console several years ago, I was impressed, but I never got to play it again...

Seventh. Though I still love to go back to some of the JRPGs from the 3rd generation.

It's a tough decision. My nostalgic feelings are incredibly powerful when I think about the SNES JRPGs. I still have a strong urge to play FF3, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and similar games. I also loved the SNES controller. However I have enjoyed every generation after that as well, and I especially enjoyed the online aspect of this generation.

I would say Genesis, Super Nintendo, and PS only because only because I had so much time to play back then. Now, I'll be lucky if I finish 5 games in a year.

Re: Favorite generation of video game consoles?
I liked the 5th generation best (so I voted for it), but I think the 4th probably is the best objectively. I loved my SNES, but it was just something about that N64/PS1 era, I remember playing a ton of games, it was something that was constantly in my social life at the time (I swear I played Goldeneye or Mario Kart 64 whenever I visited someone's house). It was just a really fun time to be a gamer and it was becoming more popular.
